did the sound go weird for anyone else during an IV segment on this weeks program ? went all echoey ... like the sound didn't record and they had to "make do" with some random mic that did get the sound...

Yes, that's what it sounded like. Surprised they allowed it to be in the show, it's the sort of thing that happens on amateur YouTube channels ('oh no, I forgot to turn the mic on')

Maybe they were operating with a skeleton crew due to lockdown? There have been a few shows where the production values haven't been as good as they should have been.

We're big fans of this show, it much be quite hard for them to find something that is worth looking into from all the entries they get.

I do enjoy the programme, though the "journey" has become a bit formulaic, and the bowing and scraping that has to be done to the self-styled authorities to maintain Philip's professional standing.

I would be interested in a spin-off series (or episode) on fakes - Philip Mould gave the impression that he could spot a "trapper" fake at 1000 paces, I would appreciate a bit more insight into the telltales for this.

Not quite what you are after, but this is a spin-off series: Britain's Lost Masterpieces

It's on tonight at 8pm on BBC1.

Looks as though it's a new series comprising of 4 episodes.

On a related note I have been enjoying the 'art in isolation' videos on Mouldy's Youtube channel which he filmed during the lockdowns in 2020.

He gives a few minutes chunter on the various different works of art within his agreeable Cotswold house.

Was it just me who found the ending a bit of a damp squib last night (S10 E2)?
The expert just came along and said in America they have a sniff test and it smelt right, so it's a genuine. And no mention of a valuation?

I would somewhat agree, however: They've have plenty of 'not genuine' decisions on even flimsier grounds and instincts.

I've been a fan but am getting fed up now with the really obvious way that they (particularly Fiona) immediately repeat what someone has told them, to drive the point home, every single time!

Much prefer the now sadly axed Britain's Lost Masterpieces.

I think there is a definite trend to treat us all as equally stupid.

Sadly.

Edit: apologies for poor formatting. I blame the small phone and shaky train…

I suspect that style of presentation is what you have to put up with in exchange for being shown at 8pm on BBC1 rather than hidden away on BBC4.
