BB-8 is so damn cutebiggrin

I accidentally booked the 3D version (normally avoid them) but thought this actually looked pretty good in it. The various scenes with snow flurries or glowing ashes/embers floating on the breeze did actually look like they were floating around the cinema in a way. Nicely done, not over used for once.
Isn't he just?!

Hubbie drove me mad for one, so he got it in October & it hasn't been touched since... I noticed it was switched on to charge when we got home laugh

We saw it in 3D as it was all I could get when we booked; like you I normally avoid it, but it was spectacular; and the previews for the other movies (well apart from Warcraft) looked good too!

Few bum humour notes but very few, and the story\family drama made sense, especially as i can see where they have taken idea nuggets from the old books\EU.
Which ones?

So many little touches, props from the original film that flashed up for barely a second light sabre training 'remote' was my favourite and the continued narrative from ROTJ were great.

Some weak spots in the story, a few superfluous characters, too many of what felt like cameos, but as a whole it was great. As a family we'd watched all six previous movies in order from episode 1 to episode 6. We started on Saturday, and finished last night, then watched 7 tonight.

.
Same, loved that bit!!

Me and my lad were the only ones who cheered when the Star Wars music started after "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...". My wife disappeared under her chair.
At least you didn't applaud and cheer like a couple of folks did last night. Quickly shut down by their other halves/people around them

Watched it last night in 3D. Thought it was pretty good, much better than the last 3 and back to be being Star Wars as it should be. Certainly needs another watch IMO. Will probably go again next week.

No cheering in the cinema but we did have an excellent Darth Vader and Storm Trooper and a few people in robes. Driving by Darth Vader (with light saber in full flow) and the Storm Trooper at half eleven last night certainly brought a smile to my face. One thing driving there dressed up, quite another walking there

So, TPM all over again?

Or is this something you'll be watching again and again on VHS at home in 20 years time?

Well I saw it last night and still can't decide if he should see it. There isn't one single incident that is any worse that in any of the other films, it just feels a bit more full on at the beginning, but then settles down.
It seem to come across as darker than the originals I think, a bit more intense and nasty.

I loved it, can't wait to see it again on Saturday, this time in 3D. smile
I've decided not to take him. Will let him watch at home but it will be too much at the cinema.

Weird how different it is cinema to cinema. I would say 80-90% of people clapped/cheered at the Star Wars logo at my screening, and then the same again for the end, but this time with 30%ish actually on their feet clapping.

I loved how it instantly went absolutely dead silent when the Lucasfilm logo appeared though, never experienced anything like it in the cinema.

There's nothing bad in it, not that's gonna harm anyone in anyway.

Let him watch at the cinema, it'll be something he remembers when he's older!

It's certainly a 'must see in the cinema' film.

Sofa won't quite have the same effect...

The cinema I was in was deadly silent when the lucasfilm logo appeared. Goosebumps don't make any noise afterall...

I very much enjoyed it and my fears that this would be the prequel trilogy all over again were not needed!

Lack of 20th Century Fox fanfare did make that bit quite weird!

Difficult to be sure, but I have a feeling I'll be watching this in 20 years.
I thought TPM was st as soon as I left the cinema, and have watched it maybe, half way through once more? Not sure.

Like many others I saw the 12:01 screening on Thursday morning. So far I haven't posted my opinion as I wanted to have a think before I did.

Overall it was excellent. There were a couple of goosebump moments (I cant remember the last time that happened watching a movie)

It wasn't without its problems though. The most obvious was the story elements recycled from previous instalments. The main issue was that it didn't feel like a stand alone movie and left too many unanswered questions. It could fairly be argued that these answers are for the sequels though.

I will need to see it again before a final judgment but at the moment I would say its 8.5/10

I have been bitterly disappointed twice with SW films - the first was watching ROTJ for the first time, after EP V, it was very poor in comparison - the first half was Muppets in Space, and the second half, to rub salt into the wound, were children dressed up in Teddy Bear costumes. I was 16 at the time, and watched in disbelief. I still cannot fathom why some rate this so highly.

The second, of course, is TPM, but I knew it was crap to start with, as I didn't watch it at the cinema, but on DVD, so had already read the reviews and feedback.
