Most pirated show ever. Considering this beats GOT I'd say its popular.
That's like saying TG was the most popular show for people with no TV licence.
Its a decent indicator of demand and interest..
GOT hasnt exactly struggled to make money has it..

And as above 19 million new subscribers for amazon is exactly what they wanted when they started this

I bought Amazon Prime (£59) for TGT, lets just say I'm enjoying The man in the high castle....I've used the FF button extensively for TGT

Dave showed the Bolivia TG the other day. Ok, there's clearly some scripted bits. Where that white Landcruiser that was most likely a production company car tries to squeeze past JC on the death road. Or the fact that they are probably only a few feet away from a road through the Jungle at all times when they are "forging a path"

Oh, and Hammonds car rolling down the hill.

But it still felt great! Umpteen years after I saw it the first time!

The thing with James Mays mud car did it for me. I get it, its all scripted, written and filmed, all the funny bits in the VTs are planned and nothing left to chance, I understand a stretched metaphor can make a good point and the funny in the irony of it, I understand the humour of repeating over and over again the same tropes, I get it but that thing with the diggers and the coal wagon and the furnace popped the bubble for me, just not funny not informative or even mildly interesting, just middle aged men showing off... Enough.
I said exactly the same when the digger appeared for the second time, much as I did with the constant re-start after someone getting shot in episode 3, which wasn't funny after the 3rd time, let alone the 30th time.

Most of the stuff on the episodes just drags on a bit and it never used to on old TG.... it has definitely lost something in transition unfortunately.
I really really want to love this - I still watch repeats on Dave and still laugh at them - but I am struggling to. It still pisses on shouty ginger tosser TG though, which I only managed two episodes of before never watching another hehe

Why do people keep referring to how few of Series 23 they watched as if it's some kind of medal of valour? laugh

Good for you. I watched all of them. And liked some bits more than others. You didn't even see those bits, so I guess you missed out biggrin

Not really and TGT has been quite shouty itself. I will be looking forward to the next series of real Top Gear, it has to be better than this carp.

Trouble with Evans is no one likes him, you can't say that about CHM.

That will be why he hosts the most popular radio show in the UK.

I liked TGI Fridays, but trying to combine that with Top Gear was a recipe for disaster.

And there are a lot of people who don't like Clarkson

He's more popular than Grimmy, who isn't. He did lose 1/2 million listeners recently and also lost listeners when he took of from Johnnie Walker. Why did they write Evans out of much of TG if everyone loves him?

Clarkson and Evans are both marmite characters, they both divide opinion. I do think though that Evans is even more marmite than Clarkson.

For the record, I like both of them.

Watched episode 4 yesterday. Although utterly predictable the eco-friendly cars piece was at least entertaining.

Completely bored of the dead celebrity bit already. And "The American".

He's a good radio presenter (probably), good Friday night entertainer, rubbish car show host

I 'liked' Clarkson. but he has become a parody character - and nauseating.
Yes, obviously intelligent and occasionally funny but he seems trapped in his TG character. He often looks bored of it himself, like when he was just saying 'communist' over and over again.

It must be difficult with the weight of expectation upon him especially since would know better than anyone how tired the TG format had become before he left. Change? Or stick with the same old tiring jokes? I think he made the wrong decision.

Is it just me or has Hammond become a bit 'chunkier' compared to how he used to be on TG?

He's 46. Mid-life spread happens to us all. Clarkson has a bit of a belly on him these days. But so what?
