I do like the cinema, but only when it's not packed. Went to paranormal activity 2 when it was out and as it was rammed everyone was talking, screaming etc making an already rubbish film worse.
Went with some friends to the TT doc that was on, and the fact there were only 20 odd people in made it so much better.
Plus it's so expensive once you add in drink/popcorn etc!

2pm on a Wednesday afternoon is the sort of time you really want to go to the cinema.
I cannot stand the sound of people eating popcorn, fking NACHOS (???) and rustling paper bags constantly etc. You're there to watch a film, it's not a bloody restaurant.
Some films do need to be seen at the cinema though, and I do love it- when it's quiet.

I go a couple of times a year, I'd like to go more but we're limited due to a lack of suitable animal handlers / baby sitters.
Our local (Odeon Cardiff Bay) is very popular, so if it's a Wednesday or a weekend, you can expect a nightmare parking and a long queue for tickets, but if you can get into the lounge area is all in all a nice experience - Beer, 'free' snacks, nice big seats you lift the arm rests on and it has it's own access so you don't have to hustle out with everyone else at the end of the film.
But ultimately when we do have the chance to go out, we tend to go for a 'big one' for some nice food and some drinks.
It used to show the F1 live on the big screens, always fancied it, but I couldn't get a straight answer out of them in regards to commentary, I heard they just showed the live feed without the BBC guys.

I think home large TVs and high definition players have blurred the clear superiority the cinema used to offer over the home viewing experience.
Yes it is still a better experience at the cinema, but the extra cost, and the chance of some Chavs ruining the experience, mean that it tends to be a Blu Ray at home for us now.

Three types of cinema:
1) Big chains in London that rape you with ridiculous prices and tiny seats
2) Artsy ones that are nice but full of tossers
3) Midsize/local ones that try hard and are great

Not sure if Fact (lpool) and Cornerhouse (Manc) are artsy but they are good.
We try and avoid the Odeon and the Vue, but go here instead

Generally we go to the cinema once a week now, sometimes twice. In the UK it was only if it was a film I really wanted to see. £10 for a ticket and another £10 for popcorn and a drink? F**k off.
Here in India the cinema is an 8 minute walk if it's really hot, and the prices are what I would deem realistic. It's a full size, very modern multiplex in a mall. In the normal cinema the seats recline.
Normal cinema, Hollywood film - £3.20
Normal cinema, Bollywood film - £1.40
Large popcorn and 2 diet cokes - £3.00
Gold Cinema - Hollywood film - £9.00, but you get the free drinks, lazy boys and free popcorn.
The only downside is that you have to put up with an Intermission (yes, really) and Indians who have no issue talking at the top of their voice, or answering their phone/Tweeting/FBing throughout the movie.
One very good thing, is that those prices are for the opening weekend. After that they get cheaper over the next 2 weeks!
We saw Captain America in the normal cinema for 100 Rs, which is about £1.30.

Glasgow Cineworld is ok, if a bit sterile.
A little bit pricey but worth it on occasion for a film that deserves a big screen and big sound.
I never eat cinema food because it is so expensive and terrible.
Glasgow IMAX however, that is a delight. Only about 50p more than regular cinema.
Fantastic location, nice venue and they introduce the film.
Dark Knight on IMAX is still my all time top cinema experience.

I won't go to a 'normal' chain cinema anymore. I hate the experience, and if i do have to go, i will go when the film has been out a while, and late in the evening.
I live over the road from Cineworld, and just dont go.
In Cardiff we have an arts complex called Chapter, and this is far better. For a start it has a big bar with a good selection of beer Secondly, i get free tickets! and the best bit of all is there are rarely children there, and it's not somewhere the chavy people would ever visit
