Such a stupid idea to do a film while the current series is running and doing well. How to dilute a brand.

Fine in 10 or 20 years though...

I think John Cleese would be great as the Dr. I know he was in the frame previously, don't know why it didn't happen. Money probably.
He's not got two pennies to rub together, he'd do it cheap.

I've been in my Tardis to the future and have seen how the film looks.

1) Lots of special effects and hordes of cgi enemies.
2) Dr has amazing martial arts abilities and skilled with bladed weapons.
3) Sonic screwdriver turns into laser blaster.
4) Dr jumping around set like a demented mexican bean.

Agreed.

Other reasons to NOT do it:

Thunderbirds
Torchwood USA
Avengers - major waste of Uma Thurman...
Hitchhikers Guide - not all that bad but wood you want another...
They might try to use Matt Smith!
Dr.Who, The Movie (1996)
Any American film version of a TV show, they're all crap.
(Except The Fugitive w/Harrison Ford)

A film will kill the TV series stone dead. The rights issues alone would prevent both co-existing (it was arguments about who had the rights to Doctor Who that kept it from TV screens from 1996-2005).

I'd rather have fourteen 45 minute episodes a year than one 2 hour movie every three years, and so would many Doctor Who fans.
