I did find it funny how one of them started spreading the idea of democracy and was funding pro democracy groups. These guys aren't dumb. They know that it's much easier to influence or trick a group of people (The russian population) than it is to trick a single person (Putin).

I don't believe his sudden interest in democracy was anything more than a way to line his own pockets.
hehe

During the Cold War, a group of Russian journalists toured the United States. On the final day of their visit, they were asked by their hosts for their impressions. 'I have to tell you,' said their spokesman, 'that we were astonished to find after reading all the newspapers and watching TV, that all the opinions on all the vital issues were by and large, the same. To get that result in our country, we imprison people, we tear out their fingernails. Here, you don't have that. What's the secret? How do you do it?'

An excellent programme that's essential viewing.

I'm amazed at how candid the politicians from all the countries involved are - especially this weeks programme when they are talking about a war that only happened 3 and a half years ago.

I immediately thought "Hitler Youth" when they were talking about the military training the Nashi members go through, though...

Episode 3 is all about Georgia and is a pretty neutral look at it. I don't think either country comes out of it all that well.
Georgia made a gamble by attacking russian forces and expecting the US to jump to their rescue. The US stepped away from the situation militarily because fk going to war with russia and then Georgians paid the price.

The Georgian President came across as very naive.

Powell is great in this, love how candid he is, especially about Putin smile

Imagine if England and Wales both got parliaments, and then the first ministers dissolved the union from under Cameron's feet.biggrin

I do think it is scary he will be running the country for another 12 years. He isn't going to miss out on that.

It's amazing just how tight a grab Puntin has on everyones testicles. It's very very impressive!

Particularly liked how he told off the factory owners.. You'd never see a billionaire in the US or UK looking that much like a naughty school child if Obama/Cameron confronted them.

Particularly liked the 'Give me back my pen' as someone above pointed out.
