I enjoyed Mr Moore’s previous work, so I gave it a go. For me it fails on that most annoying of traits, and one which I thought he completely vanquished in BSG: irrational behaviour from characters who are in the plot explicitly because they are more intelligent and experienced. This happened almost from the beginning, and was made worse when plot development relied on bizarre character actions.
Three in particular: 1. Base walkie talkies. They have the kit to do mobile video transmission but there aren’t enough walkie talkies to go round and maintain constant group comms?
2. Sat phones. OK, so there’s only one window a day for large scale data transmission, I can go with that, but the CDC group – the primary field emergency response team of a US govt agency with billions in funding who only operate out in crappy jungle locations – don’t have a single sat phone as part of their deployment kit ? Please.
And then 3, which is where I gave up – the field team finds a live experimental monkey in a virus outbreak zone when the lab head said there weren’t any, and doesn’t call it in, or lock the whole place down, or refuse to do any further investigation until they get the whole story ? Don’t think so.

I'd also add that its a huge leap that no satellites or networks of satellites are in continuous line of sight that far north or south (whatever)Three in particular: 1. Base walkie talkies. It seems like another zombie thing dressed up in a pseudo sci-fi frock.
I gave it as much of a chance as I could, but it's gone downhill very quickly, and wasn't exactly at the top of the hill to begin with.
Wont be watching any more. Wonder what the odds of a second series are? I predict a very sudden, wrap up end of season 1, never to be heard of again.

Channel 5 seem to have give up on it, most recent episode was pushed to midnight and future episodes will be on 5* instead at some point, no date announced that I know of.
Shame really, it could have been good but *nothing ever happens*, just too slow and plodding and not really heading anywhere. Maybe it would have worked better as a very short miniseries or whatever where the reduced time might have meant the story (assuming there is one) was actually pushed along.

I stuck with it to the end, just out of stubborness, and to see if they could do anything to redeem the programme when it got the green light for a second series.
It got worse toward the end in my opinion, I regretted giving any time to the last 2-3 episodes, which is saying something given the rest of series 1.
