Wonderful film - souffle light to begin with but gets better and better, culminating in a simply wonderful climax .Very , very meta (spot the references) , neither can dance, Gosling is not going to break new ground in his acting ability - but it doesn't matter a jot. Emma Stone is inspired - those bloody eyes ! -the camera work and direction is stunning and the last film I saw which was quite so feel good was The Artist . And I don't even like musicals !
Go and see it - a joy.

I've seen it three times now, first two on TV via Kodi and then went to see it at the cinema on Saturday. It gets better each time you see it as the songs are definately growers and there are lots of little subtleties that you miss the first time. Btw I've never watched a film repeatedly in a short time before. I can't get the tune out of my head now either
I also loved whiplash, it really grabs you and takes you on the journey.

Whiplash is astonishing.I also loved whiplash, it really grabs you and takes you on the journey.
I used to drum (a bit!) and the skills those jazz guys have is insane. Goes to show just how far someone can go in terms of skill.
Saw this last night.
For the first hour I thought it wasn't my cup of tea and I'd wasted my money, but it did get better towards the end.
Acting is superb, nice old school feel, great camera work etc.
I left thinking 'yeah that was pretty good'. But it's not amazing...it's been hyped up to make you think it has to be amazing.
The board of Toyota Prius car keys was amusing.

I no longer have the need to see this film.
But only because of the stupid, ignorant, fking bh who was in the same restaurant as me on Saturday and insisted on telling her friends IN A VERY LOUD VOICE the entire plot of the film and her opinion on it.
I doesn't matter that you know the plot at all. It's not that sort of film. But only because of the stupid, ignorant, fking bh who was in the same restaurant as me on Saturday and insisted on telling her friends IN A VERY LOUD VOICE the entire plot of the film and her opinion on it.
Watched it yesterday and really enjoyed it. The story is fairly light but not awful by any means. The music was pretty good and some of the songs will no doubt become fairly well known as the years progress.
Nice to see Hollywood revive a style and genre that has been neglected for decades.
It might help revive decent jazz as well.
