Recorded before the economic collapse in bank lending.

Titles for the next series will include "Erecting a Marquee," "How I Thatched My Prefab," "Mud House On The Banks of the Thames," and " "Squatters Decorate A Municipal Building."

hehe
Although very true at least with this show they tend to be building their dream home rather than using it as an exercise to make money.
Agree with that.
These people are not interested in making money, they are out to build their dream home. Just as well really, judging by previous programmes!

I love the programme and always chuckle to myself when they state what there budget is at the begining. (Nearly always a tad optimistic aren't they)
That's like Property Ladder!

Always makes me laugh when they say they wanna sell the house for hundreds of thousands, then only budget £15k for bathroons and kitchens.

Or when they start adding silly stuff in the hope it might add value. Like the couple who put a fish tank in the kitchen laugh

my other peeve is that sometimes he doesn't slate people enough,
Especially when they woefully underestimate the cost and or timeline impacts of 'minor' changes and problems. He should carry a large wet fish with him to slap some of them quite frankly.
Saw one last week about a guy that had sold a really nice house and moved his family into a stty bungalow on the plot that he had bought.

He had the footings dug, presumably the drainage etc in place and poured the concrete slab.

Only at this point did his architect tell him the cost of the green oak frame, which he could not afford.

Shirley you get all these facts before you commit to such a major project?
Is it bravery or stupidity?

Why are they wearing hi viz jackets to stand in a field by an empty building, what is going to run them over?

Something from the house next door?

400 large to buy it and then 26 grand to re-home the bats? It's got all the ingredients of a train wreck so far.

an 'accidental' collapse would be far cheaper to sort, plus you could claim it on the contractor's and SE's PI hehe

I'll wager they'll be doubling that amount and then some. No foundations? This is going to hurt.

Agree about the neighbours as well. Would like to see an over view of the site.

Let me guess, punitive fines if you don't have one in broad daylight while working indoors on the 5th floor?

no, you just get kicked off site (even if you are the client)

trust me, if you were to go on site you'd want to wear PPE
