He isn't getting out on any technicality, he made it up to string Tracy along.

Tracy didn't actually start the fire deliberately, she went in to Carla's flat using a spare key, unaware that young Amy, her own daughter was asleep in the bedroom.. There she lit a candle to see in the dark, found Carla asleep drunk on the sofa, went to kill her, but thought better of it...left, leaving the candle burning where it accidentally started a fire. Everyone thought Carla was irresponsible leaving a candle burning, starting a fire which nearly killed Amy.

She then let Carla take the blame, Carla became suicidal with guilt....(Carla for ages did not know Tracy had even been in the flat)......but Tracy then felt guilty seeing the state Carla was in and eventually spilled the beans to Carla about what really happened.

Didn't he say something about the integrity of the officer who arrested him being called into question ?

Yes, that was the story he made up. (The so called technicality)

I wish Kevin and Anna would get on with it...Anna definitely looks up for it, (a relationship) but Kevin's that thick he can't spot the signals...rolleyes

Meanwhile, over at Fiz's house, Tyrone is going to get a rude awakening when all the bills pile in just after the new year......

God but last night was just dire; the only redeeming scene was Mary's being stood up. I loved the bleak description she gave on Thursday ' two courses and the option of a pudding' (or words to that effect)in some hellish hotel - Eleanor Rigby as written by Graham Greene.

Well it was OK I reckon. Typical Xmas edition of a soap, with loads of cliched festive feelgood trash. I felt it was unlikely the choir and brass band had stayed there all day playing and singing- they must have been cold. And how do you have a snowball fight with fake snow?

Loved Mary's cameo. Kevin and Anna will get together soon, worry not. The David and Kylie situation has been resolved, as has the Robert and Tracy "engagement". And I reckon Ken will suss out Nessa pretty soon.

Beats the misery and suffering of other soaps' Xmas editions.

It was supposed to be real snow as in make believe Weatherfield it is always a white xmas. Obviously you can have a snowball fight with fake snow as they clearly just did. They did look like they were sweltering in their hats and scarves though.

The fake snow that Leanne chucked in Tracy's face left her with water dropping off her chin...

So have the writers prepared us for Emily's departure? She has been a real enigma over the decades - on the surface a prim and proper old biddy, but always surprising us with her progressive ideas and willingness to accept changes in society.

I wasn't expecting a long-term trip to Peru! I wonder if it'll be "Darkest Peru"?

I've been thinking - are we supposed to assume that Cathy is still living in Roy's spare room, or that their relationship has moved on? Roy doesn't look particularly "drained" in the morning. Nudge, nudge.

Is Ken lining up for a heart attack with this bike riding malarky?
I thought Corry a bit dull over Christmas tbh (I haven't seen it since Monday), I was forced to watch Eastenders and whilst being very dark and humourless there was a lot more going on, I don't think there is a single character on the square that isn't psychologically screwed up somehow.

I agree. I thought the Xmas Day episodes were a bit flat. Not enough of the expected Corrie wit.

I was then going to add to my previous post - Blimey. I didn't see that one coming. I'm referring to what just happened in the casino.

When is Tyrone going to fess up to Fiz that hev is up to his neck in debt?

I can see it now..(Soppy voice)..."Oh Ty........"

Emily Bishop going off to Peru is one of the most unlikely storylines ever, although if it was real life, good for her.......

Mad Mary is fast becoming one of the best characters in the street, there's lots of mileage in her yet for great comedy...

Although it was widely known that the actress was retiring, I wasn't expecting it so soon. I'll give the production crew their dues, it was a bit more imaginative than the usual excuses for cast members leaving. Presumably Carla's sabbatical will be because of her current emotional turmoil - I expect LA beckons.

Wow. Tonight's 2 episodes were like a Christmas Special of Eastenders - all family turmoil and disturbed emotions. Makes a change, I suppose.

The Corrie "gay jokes" continue - Tracy "......as they say in Gay Paree ...." I actually feel sorry for Todd, having to work with her.
