Also, the story about "Tommy" grooming three other women and being engaged to them was nonsense, why would he?
I answered that earlier.

I didn't really like Sarah Lancashire (Corries Raquel) much before, but she has been fantastic in this and also Last Tango in Halifax....she has a new fan.
What! She was brilliant as Raquel in Corrie, and has been great in everything she's ever been in. A top class actress.

Because if you were trying to find another nutter to go and do your bidding you would have to cultivate as many as possible in the hope that you would find one willing to actually do some thing

I enjoyed it immensely and I don't watch TV police/detective/murder things at all.

I don't know if anyone else noticed but I thought the sound was a bit special, like movie sound with deep, sustained base. Very immersive.

Personally, I thought she was a bit of a wet drip in Coronation Street, although Curly Watts didn't think so....smile

I haven't really seen her in much before "Last Tango" since Corrie tbh.

Off topic:-

Incidentally, the "Farmhouse" filming location in Last Tango wasn't in the Halifax area, but in Norden, overlooking Rochdale.

I watched the first series and wanted to watch S2 but wasn't able to do so from the start. No problem, that's what iPlayer is for, right? Except Auntie has removed S2Ep1 mad And for all I know, Ep2 now as well.

Anywhere else I can find this to watch?
Can you rent it from Blockbusters?...

Caught up with it last night. Catherine Cawood ran circles around the detectives, apart from the one on the bridge, obviously...

Excellent stuff!

Await series 3.

Exactly, plus you'd need reserves in place in case the main one had 2nd thoughts.

Cleared of the murders, arrested on some separate charges which is where we last saw Neville Longbottom. We didn't get to hear what the charges were either.

The final scene with the Mum and son, the conversation they had and what she did to him reminded me of the end of Of Mice & Men.

Last week we saw Myrtle making petrol bombs. No mention of those when the police searched her house and siezed goods. Obviously they didn't find them or else she'd probably have been detained.

Kudos to her for that.

Too many successful series hang on and on and on and on...

Leave 'em wanting more is the right approach!

I think Sarah Lancashire thought the story involving 'Tommy' is played out, it would need another plot altogether.

I hadn't heard of Happy Valley until a week ago when my girlfriend recommended it to me.
I've subsequently watched both series.
My conclusion is that Sarah Lancashire is a fantastic actress and if all real coppers were as good as her I'd feel sorry for the crims smile

Series 1 & 2 staggeringly good drama, great script, and fantastic acting from most of the cast.

I said that to my Mrs. I really enjoyed the whole series but the last episode was a bit of a let down. They seemed too quick to suspect the copper friend of 20 odd years too. I wish they'd taken a bit longer and tied things up properly. It all seemed a bit rushed.
