The new series opener had a 2am showing this morning, when is OK to post comments about it? Wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone.

I best release my mooring lines and go off in search of Pirates after work then.

Just finished watched the first series all in a lump, utterly superb. It has leapfrogged into my top ten.
Sublime, great story, brilliant ending, atmosphere, acting, pacing etc. Michael and Woody are both outstanding, as are some of the bit parts.
Didn't realise how great the soundtrack is either, gonna buy that on CD, including the haunting intro as well.

I watched the first ep if the new one...it looks like it's going in the right direction. Even Farrell was decent, I'm guessing this director knows how to get the best out him.
Looks like we're on for some top-drawer modern noir! The best place to go after Bayou inbred cultism!

Galactica?, is that sci-fi?. I don't do Sci-Fi but I need something as good as the rest of that list.

Galactica is pretty special.

I still watch through the seasons periodically on Blu Ray...

Do you mean Battlestar Galactica? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0407362/

Yeah, I going to have to pass on that. I didn't like the original when I was an impressionable naive kid, so now that I am an old curmudgeon, a remake is only going to wind me up and cause me to chew my Werthers. biggrin

I rankled at first at the thought of a remake. But then I watched it. And it was the best sci-fi I'd encountered for a long time.
I rewatch some episodes periodically when they are shown. I still love the old series for it's campy 70s nonsense, but I couldn't really re-watch more than one episode at a time, if at all.
The remake is just a different beast altogether.

It has Sci Fi aspects, however that isn't really what the show is about. It's a bit similar to saying Game Of Thrones, isn't that Swords & Sorcery ?

Edit: Galactica is mostly theology, with a bit of philosophy thrown in. It spends a fair amount of time studying the relationship between 'the creators' and their 'creations'. It had some amazing story lines and stunning moments, with a fair amount of mystery/second guessing thrown in. If you really hate sci-fi, then I guess there may be enough of that side of it that you won't enjoy it but I would suggest giving it a go.

Yeah. It was made at the time of the Iraq war. The stuff on warfare, terrorism, identity and culturism really is sublime.
It was one of the first US imports which was pretty grown up I think on how people work (along with the Sopranos), there aren't good people and bad people, there are people, who do good things and bag things, sometimes they are the same people. The best of US imports keep to this truism.

It's just finished. I like it and it's given me great ideas on how to sort out my son's bully problem wink

I see the Brit girl from Eden Lake is Vince's wife, she also played the druggie in Flight.

Good, but didn't grab hold of me the same way s1 did. But then I had no expectations of that. Thought the motorbike cop finding the body was a bit too convenient story wise, he just happened to turn off his lights and lose control at that particular spot?

I quite enjoyed it, although I have no idea what is going on as yet. And Vince Vaughn isn't as terrible as I thought he'd be ...

Early thoughts are that they could replace Vaughn with a wooden plank with an Arnie voice over and it would do better.

Warming to the characters of Farrell and Adams. Not sure on Kitsch yet.

In the first one Matthew and Woody drew me in very quickly with their characters slowly dripping a story without much happening.

It's good that they don't appear to be telling the same story twice with different characters and location. Still interesting to see how this series develops.
