Same deal with the old 240 Volvo he drives, trying to give the show a more gritty authentic feel, anything to offset the new age Evo X and Outlander marked cars prominently positioned.
I am still reserving judgement on it. It wasn't bad, but a bit too far fetched to be the sort of realistic, hard edged dramas I was hoping for.
One disadvantage is that he has some very big shoes to fill having come from The Wire which is *the* best police drama ever produced.

I didnt know he came from that show dont know much of his past history.Heard he is/was a DJ.
Swmbo has added him to her list if you know what I mean
Oh and I think Mrs PR has added Ruth Wilson to her list.

sort of girl you might go to bed with but it would be wise not to go asleep
Mrs Wilson, the recent BBC Drama in which Ruth Wilson starred in, was a true story about her grandparents and if you watched it you will realise she's not from a "normal" family, if there is such a thing. She is a great actress and ideal for her character in Luther.I just don't get the love for Luther.
I watched the 1st episode and was really unimpressed, both with production and acting.
Reminded me of an episode of Minder ,on speed.
It's just drama by the numbers, throw in a bit of pervy, throw in a bit of dark comedy.
I've followed Idris Elba but nothing compares to his acting in The Wire.
He just plays his alter ego, big tough geezer, but no real depth and just goes through the motions.
Same old...same old.

Alice isn't dead, she survived the fall and hung around wearing the balaclava. Boss knew she was still around since doing the blood tests on the stuff in Luther's flat.
Before anyone says that's too outlandish and OTT, this is Luther we're talking about

Has it been explained at all in Luther why he lives in a council flat that’s falling to pieces and drives an 80’s Volvo?
Or is that realistic based on today’s Police wages?
His boss was driving an aged 7 series as well and he's a Chief Inspector. Or is that realistic based on today’s Police wages?
Seems to be the way things are in fictional London cop shows, the character in Stan Lees Lucky Man drives and wrecks a seemingly endless supply of E28 bmws. Sometimes blue, sometimes red.
