The high end quality shows tend to not go above 12.

Excellent finale. Whole host of possible plot lines for the next series. So now I need to find a new series to watch and have been recommended Southland - I've done The Wire and BB - can anyone vouch for this cop drama?

Have you seen The Sopranos? Also, The Shield, Sons of Anarchy and Deadwood are definitely worth watching.

I can - excellent stuff. Well written, interesting characters and some good acting.

More4 are currently showing series 4. It was recently renewed for another series too.

Thanks. I've done The Shield and The Sopranos and the others I'm not really interested in. Dexter..hmm,looked at this before but not been grabbed particularly. So Southland it is.

It starts off fairly decently, and gets much better as it goes on...epic.

Ace episode tonight, Nucky on the ropes. Nice to see his human side again, caring for his German valet, as well as his nephew and making the deal he should have made earlier with Mr. White.

I was unemployed for a bit this year, and rattled it off in 9 days. It's nice to be able to get that immersed in a series.

He's one of those characters. Brilliantly written and played, and scary.

He is pretty scary on Nurse Jackie also. Probably quite a lot to do with his facial expression and physical stature.

Watched 11 last night, I CANNOT wait for the finale.

Al Capone, has just become 'Al Capone'.

Richard is about to give someone, or some people, a VERY bad day, I just hope he survives the blood bath - I assume he's going to retake the Cat House, singlehandedly.

And of course the battle between Nucky, C. White, Eli, Al and all their crews verses Gyp and Masseria's Men.

Yeah we watched Ep. 11 on Saturday night, then I decided I couldn't wait another week, so I downloaded that and we watched it last night. This series has been the slowest burner of the lot, all pre-amble until the final two episodes which were relentless and well worth the initial drag.

There needs to be 'set-up' episodes, it can't all be like episode 11 or it would be relentless and ultimately, boring. The people who make this know what they are doing with story arc, plot and narativia.

Don't forget Al is just another gangster. One of many. One of the great things about BE is that it has helped shine a light on the activities of other big names of that time, that are now not really known.

How historically accurate is BE, and more importantly, hypothetically, how do we think the viewers would react if they went completely off reservation?

For example, we all know, or at least have a good idea of how Al Capone's life progresses, he's arguably the most famous gangster of this era, there was of course a real Lucky Luciano and Meyer Lansky and of course Nucky (abet with a different surname).

But if, for example series 4 turns into a battle between Nucky and his former saviour Capone over control of AC, would viewers accept Al Capone being killed off?

No, I don't think they would, I think we'll find Chicago featured even more next series, it doesn't exactly end with a shortage of possibilities for the main antagonist next time round.

Lucky is supposed to be THE Lucky, you also have Arnold Rothstein who existed as well as the others mentioned.

They're already quite a way from real history. I think they'll try and run Capone's story as close to reality as they can, which means that Torrio will move back to Sicily next season, after being hurt in retaliation for the O'Bannion murder.
