Best series ending ever? Detectorists.
Spooky coincidence! Can’t stand all this American crap all over Netflix, 12 ‘seasons’ of garbage about zombies / superheroes / vampires / witches etc so decided to watch Detectorists all over again and just finished today. A total joy, so many subtle highlights but I won’t go into them here.
There is a tenuous Line Of Duty connection though that just occurred to me the other day. In series 3 of Detectorists Lance goes to see a hypnotherapist, a young woman with a distinctive voice. Where have I seen her before?... paused, Googled and Bam!!... it’s the same girl who plays Thandie wotsername’s slightly irritating speccy sidekick in Line Of Duty series 4. So there you flipping well go!
Anyway I thought the ending of LoD was ok actually, despite all the negative reviews. Someone had to get their comeuppance and it had to be someone that we (the viewers) already ‘knew’, preferably didn’t like and was still alive. Didn’t leave much choice really, Buckles was the only real contender although funnily enough I still didn’t see it coming ha!
Could have made more of him getting stitched up at the end though. For example the run up to Cotton getting done over in series 3 was properly superb, gripping viewing.
I may just be way behind and staying the obvious here, but I remember a lot of people asking about Chris Lomax and if we’d seen him before hidden in the series somewhere, but I’ve only just realised that it’s the same actor who played Flip in This is England ‘86 and ‘90. Would never have known that if I hadn’t just re-watched those.

He's great in that I thought. Watching S4
It's so aggravating!! Obviously a good reflection on the actress who plays Roz. But Jesus she's a complete psychopath. Plus the show just makes you think anyone who isn't Steve, Kate or Ted is making 9 Bob notes look like legal tender.

I'm on my local Safer Neighbourhood Forum. We normally have meetings in person but over the pandemic they have been on MS Teams.
All the usual suspects attend: the local PC, a Police administrator, several local councillors, Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator, and multiple residents like me who like to keep our ear to the ground as to what is going on locally.
Last night the subject of relay thefts of Keyless Go cars came up. After a long period of none, there were three in one night this week, all in close proximity, all high value cars.
Local PC: "I haven't seen the specific crime reports yet, but this will almost definitely be the work of an OCG ...... an Organised Crime Group"
Everyone on the call gave the look of "yeah mate, no explanation necessary, we all watch Line of Duty!"

I've always wondered what a Disorganized Crime Group might be like...Everyone on the call gave the look of "yeah mate, no explanation necessary, we all watch Line of Duty!"

Over the last months it's been surprising just how many times the word 'definately' (sic) has leapt off the page. There are clearly a few PHers who are a bit suspicious.
Incidentally noticed that Vicky McClure is in a new series as an explosives officer in a Mercurio production for ITV on MetPol counter terrorism. No idea on screening schedule.

Adrian Dunbar is also starring in "Ridley" - "a series in which he will play retiring Detective Inspector Alex Ridley, who is lured back into service as a consultant detective when his former protégée, Carol Farman, needs help cracking a complex murder case."Good to see they're not getting typecast off the back of their success in LoD
Having binged watched every episode these last few weeks I'm glad it's come to an end.The storylines got more ridiculous and unbelievable with every series.
Some of the acting was what you'd expect from a local am dram society,Arnott was never convincing and yet for all that it was strangely addictive.
My brain cannot take any more "bent coppers","mate",or "gaffer" repeated numerous times every episode.
I can now turm my attention to the latest series of Bosch which I'm sure won't disappoint
