I am going to hold out see if it gets better.
Yes, me too.

I think a £50-£100 account credit on top is very likely.

I called tonight to cancel and was offered 25% off for 6 months and then 9 months but said no and gave my month's notice.

Hadn't heard of this app so have just added it to my android phone and 50% discount for 12 months is available.

Not sure i'll bother though. Looked at my planner and all recorded programs are on free to view

Thanks. Just downloaded. Where do the offers appear as it seems to just take me to the offers section on the website?

I accepted the 50% for 12 months and £50 credit.

I was on chat and asked what my total bill would be including phone and broadband and he threw in broadband for free for 12 months if I took the offer.

Discounts all round!

Interesting thread!
Have been with Sky for 10y and currently thinking of binning them for Virgin

Apart from a 6 month 50% deal when I threatened to leave during phone hacking-gate Ive always paid full whack

Main reason I stayed was the F1 and other sports but since champions league went to BT and F1 is now available through Virgin with Sky sports I have itchy feet

My other telecomms are elsewhere as Sky only do vanilla ADSL to me and I have cable to the cabinet for 40 mbps internet and phone with Plusnet with whom my lock in ends in 3 months and are also not as competative as they used to be.......

My strategy will be to cancel Sky and tell them Im goimg to Virgin for guaranteed 200mbps internet, BT sport for the CL and the movies, F1 and other Sky sports with the Virgin big kahuna bundle

I know the first offer will be rubbish but am wondering what others have been tempted with under similar circumstances
Im perfectly happy to see it through and move my digital stuff if Sky dont respond to my threats but as ever have an eye for a bargain

Cheers

In my experience you really have to leave and do without it for a month. Then again I am a "newish" customer only having had it a year. My Uncle on the other hand had it for well over 20 years and they didn't want to know so he switched to Virgin. So much for loyalty!

Just cancelled today, they tried the 35% off for 12mths but only on the TV package, which then ended up the same cost as we already have (£73) when they included the fibre b/band - we currently only have 4meg standard with Sky.
BT offer fibre, phone and TV for less than £40 a month. Anyone have any thoughts on BTs service versus Sky?

Had bt fibre 18 months now with minimal issues. Had strange line fault that they sorted quickly with no hassle from them.

Parents have BT tv and they find it ok.

The trick is to formally cancel your contract. You service will then cut off in 28 days time.

You contact them after 21 days, via livechat, saying that you've just had a letter from them to call a number, but your other half threw the letter out by accident.

I've done this for the past few years and get c. 70% off the complete package, fibre, etc, etc.

Only downside is that the discount does not carry over to Sky Q (package discounts do, not complete service discounts). So I won't be switching over anytime soon.

Do you cancel the lot TV, Phone, BB, or just TV package to get that kind of deal?

I cancel the lot.

I used to have everything with BT, so have no hesitation switching across. Fortunately not had to do that yet (Sky is my preference). But I dread the day my bluff will be called.

I want the Sky Q package, but no deals on it yet (unsurprisingly). Kinda hoping I'll get something come next renewal time.

Is it a coincidence that prices rose just after the old fellah married that high maintenance bint? Does she want a new yacht?

I’ve just spent ages on the phone with them and managed a good (I hope deal).
I have the variety pack with HD mix so I get sports F1 as part of the HD pack, they don’t like to offer this any more so kept trying to push me to take the family HD bundle. I also have very basic broadband so essentially I got the same TV package I have now (so still keep F1) and upgraded my broadband to fibre unlimited. Best price they could do was £57.65pcm over 12 months, BT offered similar minus the F1 for £48. Sky then offered £100 account credit, effectively taking me down to just under £50 pcm which I was happy with. Means a massive upgrade in broadband performance and also I keep my F1 channel. I could have potentially held out for more but it saves me £23 a month and upgrades my internet.

I've just had an email from Sky.

"one or more of your Sky boxes doesn't seem to be connected to your phone line because your fixed and operational phone number is showing as withheld.

This means you'll now be charged an extra £30.85 for each Sky Multiscreen box that's not connected to the correct fixed and operational phone line. This is the difference between the Sky Multiscreen price you were paying and the full price of your Sky digital subscription. You'll see this change from your next payment due date. "

We had multiroom installed (from a sky engineer) and it works fine in both rooms. I've got no idea what they are on about but I have to run a series of menu options or I'll be charged. I'll try it tonight but they say I have to phone from my house phone when done. I don't have a house phone! I can see me losing my rag on the phone and cancelling the lot. I get BT vision for free which isn't as good as Sky but if they don't sort it out, It'll the only service I get!

End of rant.

We moved from Sky to BT in October to save a bit of cash (we were paying £44 for Sky HD Legacy). BT TV is pretty awful as it turns out (unreliable, unstable etc) so when the £25 all-in deal came from Sky we looked into getting out of our BT contract 7 months early.

Just managed to quit BT for £28.45 (should have been £130) due to poor service and have signed up to Sky for £25 per month for their complete package with Movies and Sport.

Result.

So glad you said that as BT were our fall back if we couldn't agree a decent deal through Sky.

I had just cancelled TV but have now cancelled Phone and Broadband too in hope of negotiating a better deal.
Problem is the Broadband & Phone is ending 5th April and TV ends 28th April. So not sure how i'll get the best deal to come back, and would rather not be without Broadband between 5th - 28th!
