It's going to be interesting / a shame if they bring the Fantastic Four into the Avengers franchise given Chris Evans plays both the Human Torch and Captain America.

Managed to catch this last night.
First film in a long time i've enjoyed enough to feel money well spent in the cinema.
Might go and watch it again next week.

We tried to see it mid afternoon today and was sold out! That was the 2D version, showing on a smaller screen

Seems like its a very popular film!

Just seen this film, absolutely brilliant. One of the best I have seen for a a while and some real laugh out loud moments as well.

Loved this film, think Hulk stole the show to be honest although all characters had decent airtime. It is long film but didn't feel long while I was watching it. Saw it in 3D although I'm not a massive fan of the medium unless films are produced with it in mind - i.e. Avatar or Prometheus.

Finally saw it, and it was ace. Much much better than I thought it could be. Considering Cap USA was so bleh, and Thor was a waste of effort.
I guess the fact Joss Whedon did it was what made the difference.
So many funny lines, and the characters were fleshed out which was a pleasant change. Hulk was good, very good but I feel it is stretching it to say he stole the show. Tony had just as many funny bits, and even Thor and the humourless Captain had some funny stuff. The biggest laugh for me though was Hulk punching Thor.biggrin
I thought Widow and Hawk would be fifth wheels, but they were were better than expected, Widow especially so.
Fantastic to see Thanos as the ultimate bad guy, it was sort of obvious, the story moves along so you don't even cogitate on who Loki could be paying homage to until the very end, as it was I guessed at Mephisto, but Thanos was the ultimate geek buzz.
A team that is greater than the total sum of it's parts. Roll on Avengers II.

I have added spoilers, even though in this time period I don't think you should be reading this thread if you haven't seen the film. smile

He was my least favourite of all the characters until this film, now I think he's great, thanks Joss smile

You can catch the 2nd post credits scene only shown in the US here:

Doubt it'll be on there for long though., and to be honest it's pretty weak.

FYI, apparently that is a Schwarma restaurant...

There was a reference to that in the film somewhere. I think it was Tony Stark suggesting it to someone.

Schwarma is meat cooked vertically on a spit, ie what we in the uk call 'donor kebabs', but with a large selection of meats etc.

just sent this, not overly impressed.

General cinema experience: wow, this hasn't got any better has it! annoying, whiny kids sat behind me, kicking my chair and rustling their sweets. Nice. When I left at 2 PM the queue to get a ticket must have been 25 min and the queue for a five pound bottle of water was probably double that! I'd have turned around and gone home.

Film itself: OK, I like iron man but I can't get my head around the huge disparity between the "science" based characters ( like Stark with his toys and Banner with his gamma radiation) and then the "gods" nonsense. Yeah, yeah, I know it's based on the comics - still sucks.

And what are Hawk Eye and black widow supposed to be???? you've got characters with superhuman abilities who are almost indestructible and then these two jokers whose only skill seems to be archery ( seriously? bow and arrow? why not give him a sling and pebble) and wearing far too tight a catsuit for that chunky arse.

3D: Wow, my first and now, definitely, last 3D film. I just do not get the point. It's like giving a book sound effects. The I can only focus on the foreground so 80% of the image goes unseen. For the most part, it felt like the characters were stood in front of a nasty blue screen affect. Oh, and those nasty glasses are uncomfortable ( and I'm a glasses wearer so used to it)

Cinema- 2/10
film- 6.9/10
3-D- 0/10

Wow Tiggsy, how to bring an upbeat thread crashing down hehe

We don't tend to bother with 3D now (esp as hubby has run out of contacts and wearing glasses over glasses does not work!). It's not good enough for the extra expense and hassle (though I bet Imax is worth a go)

As for the 'Cinema' experience, why did you think it would be any different, I'm not disagreeing, some people are bloody inconsiderate to others (why is it men just don't seem able to whisper to the person next to them!)

You're entitled to your views on the film of course but you are in a severe minority I think! Sorry it disappointed you though.

Cinema experience can be inconsistent. I tend to go on thursdays or tuesdays, around teatime after a films been out a while.

Agree with the 3d too, i opt for 2d as i dont like having my view forced, i prefer to look around the screen.

As for not liking the avengers though? Really? Youre the first person ive heard of not enjoying it so far.

I suppose I hoped it would be quiet!

We only went as the kids wanted to see it and I'd heard 3d was good. I think I'd have liked the film more sat home home in front of my monster screen with 7.1 sound not screwed up by some little dick eating crisp behind me! Although I'd still think they should have sent Scarlet to boot camp before letting her near that suit!

Oh, and 2 adults, 2 kids and an under 5 - £50! Makes me feel less bad about downloading so much!

Hey, I gave 6.9/10 Thats not "dislike" - just couldnt get into it because of the dumb 3D and the odd mix of Gods and techno. I like my Superheros a bit less super...Batman and Kick Arse are more my thing!
