If Clarkson punched anyone in my family I'd be furious and (rightly) think there was no excuse for his behaviour short of self-defence.
Don't be so ridiculous. You can't hit people at work, heated argument or not. You know this and you're just being silly because you fancy Clarkson.

Rumors of Chris Evans, Johnny Vaughn and Jodie Kidd to replace them.... sounds like the worse trio you can pick
Have Keith Lemon instead of Evans...that could be worse?Plus, Ed China's in depth knowledge and expertise of things automotive combined with his fine presentation style in front of the camera would be a truly "what's not to like" scenario allowing the show to go on even if it is not as we knew it .... which could be a refreshing change for the better bonus.
There again, if it's decided to bury Top Gear permanently or for a few years as happened in the past ... who knows. I for one will miss the show if it is permanently off our screens ...
I've been at a WD filming and a friend of mine used to have a business with him.
He's a .
Wow! He doesn't perform all those numerous tasks on the cars alone and unaided without help. Not only that, needs TV direction to ensure good camera footage takes. Who knew ?
I have also been at the filming of TV auto shows and my direct experience contrasts with your view and some of the others here. Even if Ed China in reality does not know one end of a spanner from another he has a good presentation style when in front of the camera. That above all is what TV direction is all about.
On an episode of Wheelers Dealers, when referring to buying an air-cooled VW Camper, he actually said "You have to watch out for head gaskets going on these".

You said "Ed China's in depth knowledge and expertise of things automotive". He has neither.

not having a clue here but... don't Camper vans have cylinder heads? And if so wouldn't there be a gasket between head and block? I realise that being air-cooled you don;t get the whole issue that you would with a water-cooled car but still....On an episode of Wheelers Dealers, when referring to buying an air-cooled VW Camper, he actually said "You have to watch out for head gaskets going on these".

surprised at all the stuff on here...
One query I would ask, why didn't Man Utd sack fergie when he hit Beckham in the face with a boot?
Because he kicked a boot out of anger and it happened to hit Beckham. It wasn't intentional...One query I would ask, why didn't Man Utd sack fergie when he hit Beckham in the face with a boot?
Does the difference really need explaining?
"BBC creative director Alan Yentob has said he would not rule out Jeremy Clarkson making a return to the BBC in the future."
So maybe TG will be 'rested' for a few years until it's seen as being politically possible for him to return ( unless they successfully make a new version for another broadcaster in the meantime )

TG will / can carry on without JC and the other two, but will it be as good?
TG is all over the world now and JC doesn't present those, so it can work without him. TG with another team would likely take a few episodes to gain any foothold which could cost them viewers etc, but I'd try it out.
Of course, if we cast our minds back James May wasn't the first choice as he replaced the 'large' guy (name I can not remember or be bothered to look up) who went on to do the dealer type car show on another channel.

It's funny how when Dave started repeating Top Gear, they never repeated that first series. It's as if it is being wiped from history. Steve

And don't forget "Top Gear dog".
What a lame idea *that* was. Did they think it was Blue Peter or something?
I thought that was Hammond just wanting to hang out with his dog. Easiest way was include it in the program to avoid many comments of "Mate1: WTF. Did you see a dog in the studio? Mate2: One! There was at least 3 stood just behind James with faces off crimewatch"What a lame idea *that* was. Did they think it was Blue Peter or something?
