Are we getting confused with the 911 they did on Classic Car Rescue, that horrible, horrible rip-off of WD with Bernie Fineman?
No, it was me who referred to the rust issue earlier in the thread. As a former 993 Targa owner, I took a particular interest in this particular episode! biggrin

There is a thread in the PH Porker forum which mentioned it. Judging by what was said there, the car was apparently known to be suffering from rust problems (which are not uncommon on the 993 around the A-pillars and doors, where water gets under the rubber trim, and not necessarily anything to do with the way the car had been maintained) to the extent that one reputable indie refused to have anything to do with it. There was speculation that that may have accounted for the (relatively) cheap price that it was sold on at....

Ed just mentioned in passing that his daily driver is a 3.6L V8. What do you reckon? Ferrari 360?

Nice brand new chassis on the 2cv, which can clearly be seen when they drive around the field, never been mentioned once, funny that.

Virtually a complete restoration of the 2CV, it was a stunning looking car and would be in my lottery collection.

Not my cup of tea but I can see it has a certain charm. Rather more to that job than we saw I suspect, the respray especially looked a lot of work.

Blimey andrew frankel...Who?

Anyway - excellent show, great car.
Weird suspension though...what were they on when they designed that? Can anyone explain how that cylinder thing actually works....I know it's a damper, but...how?

The original ad was clearly on Julius Thurgood's classic cars for sale website which can easily be accessed in the UK, so what was all the faffing about with outdoor cafes, newspaper small ads and Orangina then?
Good show, better than last week though! 'Looking forward to the Maserati.

He was proably on his way to see the one in France and stopped at the Cafe as it makes better TV than "we found this one on a classic car website so I went to have a look".

Far better than last weeks effort, it was interesting to see the frankly mad suspension system on that 2CV, quite and odd system.

I don't think that 2CV had had a new floor pan; it looked like it had been cleaned up and undersealed as part of the preperation and painting process.

I wonder if they do it on a commissioning basis. Someone asks them to sort them out a "Car X" with a budget of £10k and they go off, find one, do it up and sell it to the person commissioning.

If not, it would be an easier method. They seem to do a reasonable job.

On odd occasions they have sold the car back to the person they bought it from so this does go on. As you say would make life easier for them.

It does seem likely given the way the Isetta went to the BMW museum, the RX7 went back to the owner (oddly after it was suggested a few series back that it would be economically sensible to do excatly this to get your own car restored) and that Andrew Frankel just happened to be looking for a 2CV for £10k.
