Cornell smashed it, corking tune.

Skyfall meh.... Rhyming skyforl with crumborl by way of cockney was awful.

Keep hoping they'll let Matt Bellamy and Muse have a crack at one, just so long as he doesn't into a Queen song.
Muse Supremacy would wipe the floor with Sam Smith.

Rod.

Has this been linked yet? It was uploaded in April so I thought it must've been, but I can't find it in the thread.

Youtube - The supercars of SPECTRE

The Jaguar is yummy - some XJ220-esque lines around the nose and front wheel arches IMHO...

The Sam Smith song sucks, what a stupid choice of singer for the Bond franchise. And it sounds a bit like Michael Jackson's Earth Song in places.

I'm sure she's quite the talent.

That would work - she's got the perfect voice for it IMO. As others have said, Amy Winehouse would have been great too.

WHY THE HELL have Muse not been given a Bond sound track to do yet ?!?!?!?!

Final trailer: https://youtu.be/z4UDNzXD3qA

Hmm, the SFX of the building collapsing looked a bit ropey and didn't Craig's Bond say "It's all a matter of perspective" in a previous outing?

Also, a new TV spot: https://youtu.be/JXSnhvMZs7s

The theme tune is growing on me a bit - but then I have R1 on when I'm working on the car, and it's on there quite often, so maybe it's just familiarity. Same for the Skyfall theme, that was on R1 a lot, and for quite some time after the film was released, and so it became more familiar. I wonder if I just don't register the other Craig themes because I've pretty much only heard them when the film was on.

This one was written in twenty minutes, apparently. Sounds a very short time but then I can't imagine what goes in to writing a song, maybe he just had a lot of it in his head to start with, it seems to be just a song with no specific reference to the Bond film or franchise other than one line.

I've got a fair idea what goes into writing a song and I'd say it definitely sounds like it took him about 20 minutes. He probably had to spend longer than usual on this one because there wasn't a handy Tom Petty song around for him to rip off wholesale.

That said, it sounds like the producer/arranger etc took much longer than 20 mins trying to turn into a credible Bond theme but i guess you can't win 'em all.

My biggest problem with it is the lack of light and shade. Bond themes rise and fall dramatically and his just carries on at the same level from start to finish. st. Compare with the Bassey efforts, or Tom Jones and it's sadly lacking. For more modern examples, Sheryl Crow's effort for TMD is superb and Chris Cornell wrote a superb song that really ushered in a new type of Bond perfectly.

I think the song would be so much better if he didn't go into high pitched mode. The song actually starts out ok.

I'm starting to wonder of this is going to be more Quantum of Solice than Casino Royale... DC has been moaning a lot recently, saying he'd never do another (he's still contracted for 1 more but isn't expected to do it) reshoots weeks before the release date etc - not to mention the usual obscene amount of product placement they seem to need to make a Bond these days.

Agreed.

That's the moment the big grand maybe bassy bit needs to kick in rather than it sounding like someone has just put his balls in a vice.

They'd be really good, as long as they can persuade Matt "air raid siren" Bellamy to shut up and get someone who can actually sing do that bit instead. Even if they kept it in-band & gave it to Chris Wolstenholme.

Anyone catch the advertising 'featurette' during Homeland last night? A non-stop onslaught of brands sponsoring Bond, from Gin, to Sony, to Land Rover and probably a few other things I've forgotten.

It'll be a fking product placement overload.
