I just watched this weeks show, and have to grudgingly admit it was better than last week. But then, it could hardly fail to be could it?

Mind you, I still fast forwarded through most of it. EJ is more than flesh and blood can bear.
Are the BBC punishing those who enjoyed the previous version by putting Evans and Jordan in the same show

Yes.. we're sorry, BBC.. can we please have JB to front the show now?

CE is bad enough to listen to on the radio, but having to watch him too is just not good TV. He's totally the wrong person in the wrong slot here.

Chris Evans in tears because of the F1? Really? Ultimate cringe.
When he was on the Big Breakfast, it was when the McLaren F1 came out and they had one on the show... CE couldn't have been less interested in it if he tried. He barely knew which way it pointed; he is a late-comer to cars it would seem.

That was in his very early presenting days..... one can imagine that your interests in exotica increase as your bank balance increases biggrin

Watched 2nd episode last night. Think it was muchly along the same lines as the 1st. MLB is great, I like him a lot, and seemingly he has got some fairly handy driving skills.

I am a big fan of JB anyway and I thought he was good. He is the only F1 driver left with any personality and it will be a shame when he retires. Would like to see him in it more, although not sure "fronting" it is his thing.

Evans is just trying to hard. If he calmed down a little he would be a lot less annoying.

One thing that baffles me is the SIARPC segment, was universally hated in the last format and they have extended that and made it worse at the same time.

Nope! Perhaps I just went into a short coma for that part of the show but I genuinely don't remember it.

JB was brilliant, but that wasn't a surprise. MLB is more than just a handy driver - he's done a fair bit of racing stateside, he works on cars (he almost comes across as a younger version of Jay Leno).

I'm no fan of Evans and can't even listen to him on the radio. In Top Gear I didn't find him as bad as I was expecting but wouldn't be fussed if he wasn't there at all.

I found the programme watchable, the second episode was better than the first and I'll give it a chance by keeping watching.

I liked "old" TG but we just have to accept that this is no longer around. And some of the last of the previous teams TG was getting a bit stale with really contrived challenges.

The second episode was quite a bit better than the first - probably about as good as a 'decent' episode from the last few series. (OK, that's not saying much)

In terms of taking the 'Top Gear formula' and making a show with it, they've done a much better job than any of the foreign remakes, including the (original) US and Australian versions.

Unfortunately, the formula has become a bit old and stale and they haven't really updated it enough. The only thing that kept the 'old' show still watchable was the interplay with the three presenters which had become increasingly hit or miss in the few few series.

Also, Evans is crap as a car reviewer. He would do OK as a dedicated studio presenter. Le Blanc is pretty watchable though and does seem to at least know how to drive and a has a bit of knowledge about cars.

After vowing never to watch it again after the 1st episode, I did actually go back on my promise and watch the 2nd episode on the iplayer.

I don't mind admitting it was a whole heap better than the 1st one. If only ChrisE could tone it down a bit more (he did a bit, just not enough). I liked his McLaren test more than last week's pointless Viper feature - but it was still a bit of a Clarkson Parody.

Seasick Steve was the highlight for me really. I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much without him as a guest.

I may be back for the 3rd episode but I think the difference is it isn't a case of Sunday Night, stop everything it's Top Gear - now it's sort of OK - I'll watch it on iPlayer if I get a chance.

Extra Gear was OK too, again but, this time not as good as 1st one! I suspect that's because there was only 1 presenter.

CE is a blubbering idiot and is still trying his clarksonisms out.

Why was he doing the car test at the start? Is a motoring journo? No. do they have a journo who is capable of producing good car reviews? Yes.

Why do they have to make it his show.

On the plus, seems Matt is pretty handy behind the wheel. Again, why isn't he doing the power tests?
because = CE
Tbf a lot of people are handy behind the wheel. Doesn't make them good presenters though
Harris seems to do ok. Plenty of options so it is frustrating to see someone who appears to be able to do neither do it. Which makes me think he thinks it is about him.

I think its fine - it is simply top gear with different presenters which is what the beeb wanted. Thought the suv item was ok apart from the fact that they didn't tell us much about them, especially the Jag which i wanted to learn more about. Still funny in parts. As said before The Ginger's jeans make me itch! The state of 'em vomit

Recall them having a Mazda of some sort. An import with a turbo'd 875cc engine or something, where he bragged about him and his mates seeing who could get to 60 the quickest?

I really didn't get what he was saying regarding his ''emotional moment''? He said something about being reminded of his first ever car, that his mother bought but could ill afford, to now being in a multi million pound F1 and the disparity between the 2. Surely he must have had those same feelings with those white Ferrari's or the California? Either that or he was just wanting to show how much of a ''car guy'' he really is, so the likes of us on PH will see he has an affinity with us? Instead, he just looked like a ginger tosser.

I watched the first minutes of Extra Gear
until Fanta Pubes showed up.

The introduction by Rory seemsd weirdly reverential to Evans.

Ep 2 much better than Ep 1.

EG this week was rubbish without Chris Harris. Don't think Rory is up to much TBH.
