I had a feeling this is where it would happen since we never got it whilst south of the wall in the old castle.

I wondered why when looking at the clock it said 10pm and not 10:10pm.

Forgot about the single break.

Loved the deaths of Karl and Locke. Hodor is a weapon.

Yeah Hodor in attack mode is a real st kicker. He also has a two foot penis. hehe

Silly Jon, fighting in close quarters with a bd sword against a skilled opponent with two short blades. That was foreshadowed by Oberyn. Jon needs to watch the show!

Weren't thoroughly impressed with tonights episode.
Would have preferred Locke to have a bigger part to play.
Not much else happened for me. Hopefully it set more exciting things up.

I was a tad surprised at Locke's story arc.

Interesting that Tywin has no money left. Wonder if that can be picked up on from the books....

Next week's episode!!!
Stannis goes to see his bank manager!

I was surprised at that arc. Seemed to go to a lot of trouble then just stopped

Was a bit of a puzzler.....

Cersei being nice? Erm, don't see that.
Enjoyed the Brienne/Pod and Hound/Arya scenes. Nice juxtaposition.

Unsure if it is in the books that the Lanasters have no money. Surprised by that tho!
Regarding Stannis, assuming the place he is at is the Iron bank of Bravos, how did he get there?! I take it they have no walk in branches in Westeros...

I dont think Cersei was being nice at all

Also it is in the books about the Lannisters being skint. I cant go into details as to how we knew but it will become apparent I think

Just watched this whilst having a couple of pints after watching Liverpool get beat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWmOtXSAr1M

I was reading on westeros.org and came across it somehow.
I'm fascinated with wolves. Wish they had more screen presence in the show. Shame they are CGI'd which obviously has its complications with the limits of how much time is invested into putting them on screen.

Could you put where abouts it says in the books, in the book thread?
Could the way Tywin said that they are skint, can't remember the exact words, just be a way of showing just how big the Iron Bank is and what is coming our way? With the preview of Stannis being in the Iron Bank in the next episode, talking about his claim to the throne and trying to get them to invest in him for his challenge of the Lannisters.
I'd be interested to see if he is speaking about being low on funds as far as the Lannisters go or as far as the crown goes. Lannisport and Casterly Rock presumably have other businesses however the crown must cost a lot to run. Such a big army. Other outgoings that keep people in power.

Will be interesting to see where the show goes with that. Seems like the Lannisters st gold at the moment.

It is def in the books. I can't remember which one, either the last or second to last ones.

Its in AFFC, after Tywins death, Cersi goes to the bank to sort the debt out and in turn changes the law about the iron bank having weapons in return for £1,000,000 reduction. I beleive the debt was in the region of 12 million.

I would describe it as passive agressive

On the Iron Bank point, Robert Baratheon put the Crown into considerable debt fighting the Targaryans and the war against the Starks and Stannis and Renly has also had a huge cost. This is all covered in the books.

Stannis is almost broke, the Lannister have real estate but not the gold they used to have, I think that in Westeros the only people with any real money are the Tyrells and the Dornish. Although at the moment we dont really know how wealthy Highgarden is.

I think this episode set the scene for quite a wide ranging story over the next few episodes.

I'm loving the way the show is going with a lot of the story arcs. It's coming together really well in a different way to the book.

Can't wait for Ep8 :-)

One quick book spoiler (Feast for Crows if memory serves) -

That wasn't the iron bank, it was the faith being allowed to re-arm to form the faith militia. In the books Cersei tells the bank to do one on the debt - which is why they back Stannis.

Thats it! I knew it was along those lines!
