I like Half the Bag.
But when I'm sat in the dark in front of a massive screen watching a made up world of intrigue, supernatural powers, SFX, Margot Robbie, Batman, guns, fire, bullets, explosions, one liners, The Joker, Margot Robbie, the end of the World, a crack squad of Super Seals, a pretty cool soundtrack and Margot Robbie, as long as the story sort of links together, I simply don't have the inclination, time or mental bandwidth to dig into the "why did that happen", "That makes no sense" stuff that these reviewers do.

Although the fact that the chief woman was the architect of the whole thing by allowing the witch to get loose hehe

Watched Cartel Land last night after some reviews on here. Harrowing in places but it does a good job of demonstrating how messed up the situation is, as the well-meaning vigilante group goes off the rails and starts to become just as bad as the cartels themselves (to some extent).

Off the back of that I watched another Cartel documentary that was recommended by Netflix (Narco Cultura). It centered on a CSI in Juarez who, despite his colleagues routinely being assassinated, continues to perform his work; it also focused on a LA-based Narco Corridos singer whose songs are directly influenced by the image of the cartels, giving two sides of the Cartel story and how it impacts people. All powerful stuff.

I watched Cartel land as well and thought it was interesting, the other one I've got queued up to watch is Mediterranea which is about the migration crisis.

Jungle Book - brilliant.

Star Trek Beyond - pointless and boring

Watched Trance (after Super 8 on C4 on sat, which I watched for the 1st time too)...good film, great soundtrack, It was a different film at the end from how it began but did have a good twist.

Watched a couple over the weekend:

Ant-Man - Not your usual superhero fare, thought Paul Rudd was excellent as the reluctant hero, raised a few laughs, would definitely watch again. Probably 8/10.

Had a drink during Ant-Man and ended up watching...

Sharknado - Hadn't seen this before and was wondering what the fuss was about - Good heavens, now I know. Probably the worst, yet best film I've ever seen. Crap CGI used multiple times, awfully brilliant dialogue, and one of the funniest endings I've seen. As a film it's a firm 0/10, as a piece of entertainment - 10/10.

Got Sharknado 2 for next weekend smile
Sharknado: you know there's a three and four out now as well?

Oh yes, seen those as well, got them on the list after Sharknado 2. Mighty impressive considering the first one was only made in 2013!

It would appear I'm on my own with the rest of the films however, the OH really wasn't a fan.

Possession. Batst crazy 1981 film that my son dragged me to whilst on holiday in the US at an art house cinema. It was apparently banned when originally released in the UK but is now available on DVD. Unquestionably the most insane film I've ever seen. Part B movie horror film and part intense study of a couple going through a divorce it is so utterly bizarre that I'm still wondering quite what it was about. Worth watching for some lovely filming of early 80's Berlin and a a quite astonishing performance from Isabelle Adjani including an epic meltdown/demonic possession scene in a subway. Worth checking out and if anyone does please tell me WTAF it was about. Overall 7/10. Some parts were 10/10 and some were 2/10. Mental.

That's the one with a very young Sam Neil in it, and Isabelle Adjani actually won an award at Cannes Film Festival for her batst crazy performance in that film!

Quite sad that I know that...

OK, I've watched it now.
Doesn't matter if it's ghouls'n'ghosts or kitchen sinks, it has to make sense and work as a story.
I think Red Letter mostly nails it. The first half is a mess, but then there's a slight gear clunk and things seem to catch on. I think the music comments were spot on, the first bit was a video montage basically, and incredibly poorly edited and mashed together, so that one of the best lines from the trailers was completely drowned out by the ill chosen music...and the line about the drink being water...was edited out...christ DC have panicked here. I can see that they were heavily influenced by Guardians without understanding why Guardians was so successful. It's like bad comedy.
Some thoughts;

Joker...could have been great, but is rather lame, Marluin Manson ripoff indeed.
Margot Robbie, lovely, great acting, but er yeah, is she indestructible?
The Enchantress has...telekinesis, telepathy, matter creation/manipulation, teleportation, some sort of energy/force projection, and probably a dozen other things, just who the frak could cope with all that?
Where ws the Bat?
Where was the Superman?
Where was the Flash?
Deadshot wasn't as wk as I thought he would be, but he shoulda been a bit more of a baddie...and the fire guy was excellent, a real character...compared to the others.
I think RLM were spot on, on the repetition, made me laugh...'here's the team'...and here they are agin...'this is the plan'...and this is the plan again...more evidence of the suits stting the bed?
I think there were some great moments in there, but it was edited very poorly, and the under lining story is too ropey, shame, 'cas I reckon under an auteur like Nolan, it could have blown the socks off of it's competition.

Correct. If you haven't already, please watch it because it's one of those films you want to talk about with someone!

What I was getting at, was that having watched the youtube critique, I can agree with it all.
When I'm actually watching the film prior to reading/seeing these reviews...I don't care

Also...isn't Superman in a coffin?

If you have a soft spot for this sort of film and period, I can wholeheartedly recommend these two documentaries, which includes detailed descriptions of every single 'Video Nasty'

They may seem expensive, but trust me, for what you get, they are bargains!

Thanks Chris. I didn't think I was into that type of film but Possession may have converted me. Will order those DVDs.

Just watched 'Chef' on Filmfour. Really enjoyed it. Nice refreshing film with decent soundtrack, only problem was I had to run to the kitchen and knock up some cheesy toast as soon as it finished, I've been drooling over the food all the way through.

American Sniper
I thought this was well made and performed, and the PTSD aspects added an interesting angle but a lot of it was a standard modern American war film really. Every single non-American in it was utterly one dimensional, which is a bit tiresome in this day and age, and it got a bit too silly towards the end so it left me a bit cold.

It's a decent film but I'm not sure it deserves the gushing praise it received on release.

Pretty much agree with this. Really enjoyed it but there were some unnecessarily clunky bits. Some of the logic doesn't really work (wouldn't have thought that a couple of the helicopter crashes were survivable for example, apart from Deadshot & Harley back stories were poor (Diablo in particular I felt was a character crying out for more use... Aussie boy errrrrrmmmmm less so
