Joy

A tale of a struggling single mum who turns into an entrepreneur/inventor. I thought Jennifer Lawrence was quite good in this one.

Finally got around to seeing the Revenant this week.

Jeesuss the Leonardo's character has a lot of bad luck. Film is about an hour too long, and struggled to hear much of the dialogue in some early parts of the film due to 'lingo'
Tom Hardy as Fitz is ruthless though.

7/10 for the story
but
11/10 Cinematography the LOOK of this film on a 4k tv was simply stunning. I will watch it again just to 'look' at it at some point.

I saw a bit of the start a few nights ago during one of it's many daily showings on the Syfy channel didn't stick with it because I had better things to do like, er... clear the dogs mess up off the lawn and...

It's in Las Vegas, that well known coastal city. Some chicks in an anti-sharknardo tower were wearing google glasses and sharks were crashing through a casino roof walking across roulette tables whilst their target sits at one end waiting for it.

Not spoilers, it happens in every film.

I saw a trailer that referenced a "cow-nado"....

just watched an animated movie Ronal the Barbarian - it's not child friendly but it is childishly funny

Just watched 'Chef' on Filmfour. Really enjoyed it. Nice refreshing film with decent soundtrack, only problem was I had to run to the kitchen and knock up some cheesy toast as soon as it finished, I've been drooling over the food all the way through.
Watched this last night and really enjoyed it, made a great change to all the violent crap I normally watch smile

It was on Film4 the other night, as a child I always wanted to break into an American army surplus store and load up a la Arnie!

Me and my wife both enjoyed this a lot. My wife liked it so much that she asked if we could see it again!

It is a fun movie in the same way that ST4 is, I think. Doesn't take itself too seriously and is all the better for it.

Oh, and I guess I am a bit of a 'Trekkie' as I own almost everything Star Trek on DVD/BR (apart from ST5, of course - no amount of completion obsessiveness could entice me to waste money on that - watching it once was more than enough)

When Final Frontier is on telly, I always watch the last 20 odd minutes...and maybe the first few minutes of the stuff between Spock/Bones/Kirk. That stuff is gold. And I like the larger concept.
I wouldn't mind seeing it rejigged for the new film franchise, if they have finally gotten the characters right.
