TG was near to death under its old team, and an injection of new faces hasn't achieved much positive.
It should be allowed to die quietly.
Near to death under its old team????It should be allowed to die quietly.
Series 22 was similcast to 50 countries, and shown in another 10 within 24 hours. It had a worldwide audience of 350m.
Thats not the hallmarks of a show nearing death

Well congrats to those wishing ill on Chris Evans, you've got what you wanted. You'll be the same glass half full whingers who moaned about the last series and you'll probably do the same with the new Amazon version.
No win situation I feel.
I am inclined to agree. Amazing the degree of vitriol from some people here about a simple sunday car show. No win situation I feel.

People on here had already decided to hound Chris Evans out before they had even watched the show (I liked it)
That's somewhat of a sweeping statement and also simply not true. May and Hammond openly supported Clarkson, not once have I seen any support for CE by his co-presenters.

Chris Evans could have made a brilliant Top Gear.
...
All that was needed was for Chris to realise he is not the centre of the universe - and just talk like a normal person.
I like Chris Evans, even through the 'mad' years. My disappointment is that he didn't take the show and do something with it. Perhaps he wasn't allowed, and just did his best within the remit giving to him by the BBC. But it was a disjointed show, no charisma or bonding between the presenters. Eddie Jordon is just odd, Sabine was trying way too hard to be funny that is was annoying. Matt Le Blanc was okay if a bit wooden, I like Rory Reid, Chris Harris was okay although again not charismatic. ...
All that was needed was for Chris to realise he is not the centre of the universe - and just talk like a normal person.
So with Chris Evans now gone, and all the criticism that has been put on the show, perhaps the next series will have the desperately needed make-over to make it great.
Edit: Appalling typing.

In much the same way that,- Boris Johnson could have made a brilliant Prime minister
- Michael Gove could have challenged Mother Theresa for sainthood, and
- Nigel Farage could have run successfully for President of the European Commission.

Just watched extra gear did seem odd that CE wasn't on it especially when Rory asked everyone what their favourite memory/car was. Just makes it even more obvious he doesn't gell with the rest of the team
Now it makes more sense he probably decided to leave before this episode airedClockworkCupcake said:

That's somewhat of a sweeping statement and also simply not true. Those people were right...

I'm not trying to pick an argument, but your statement is presumptive - and in my case, at least, quite wrong.
+1BBC had two choices,
1. Make the same show with different people, or
2. Totally revise the format.
They thought they could play safe by going with option 1. They were wrong.
Now it's time for option 2.

Unless you're a personal friend of Chris Evans I can't see how someone could claim he's a good TV presenter.
He seemed to tap into a zeitgeist about 15-20 years ago and has ridden on the coat tails of that ever since, but Timmy Mallet sounds about right to me.
Whatever, he's gone now - Let's see what the BBC do next - Sadly, I expect they'll try more of the same with another 'face'.
Let's just hope it's not one you want to punch repeatedly, this time...

Just get Jordan to leave now and a good show will be possible.
Jordan was only on as he was contracted to the BBC for another year, although he is a Marmite character he is quite willing to play the fool when required.I enjoyed a lot of the last show. Bin Jordan and Sabine and also the rallycross section with the boring actory guests.
Rest of it was pretty good I thought.
If they had put out episode 6 as the first episode I think the general response would have been much more positive. The first show was awful.
