I liked it, different slant from the rest and pity it went odd at the end but still not too bad. One scene has a few earth blokes trying to get a judge to prosecute some aliens for abducting their relatives several generations ago.

Time to dig the box set out again....

I shall skip the 1st season then, and start at the 2nd. I can always watch the 1st if I need to at any point...

If you do that you will miss out on 'arc' storyline setups though. If you can try and watch episodes 1,5,6,8,13,15,16,17,18,19,20,21 and 22. And if that is too many then try at least 18,19,20 and 22. But it is really worth watching it all as I think you may end up having a better understanding of why certain characters behave the way they do.

You've seen 8 out of 110 episodes and now are an expert judge on the special effects?

Do yourself a favour, don't spout off from a perspective of ignorance. Once you've seen more of it you'll realise how silly that statement was, you've already had many people acknowledge season one being terribly filmed in comparison to the rest.

You've still got some truly cringeworthy effects coming too, season one truly is like a low budget version of 60s doctor who!
I'm not claiming to be an expert judge, merely giving my opinion that I thought the effects weren't up to much.

Another big B5 fan here, I'm not at all a sci-fi person, truthfully I don't like Star Trek / Wars, DS whatever or, in fact, just about any other sci-fi thing.

B5 however held me from S1 E1 all the way through and I really should buy the DVDs and watch it again.
