Well I have not caught a few minutes of the second or third show and the end of yesterday's. For me it failed just like every show that attempts to mimic a successful format with a cast that simply apes the originals.

There were moments when I shuddered with embarrassment watching them and I'm not at all surprised the ratings have nosedived. TG wasn't a genuine motoring show, it's had moved well away from that and was no more than the sum of its presenters; the new ones don't add up to much, IMO.

I thought the ending of "Extra Gear" was significant - it was Reid, Harris, LeBlanc & Schmidt saying "that's all from this Series" and they looked like the definitive presenting team.

Evans and Jordan were oddly absent.
I would definitely give these 4 more of a chance (personally). Only watched 1 ep this series. Might get round to one or two when I have a bit of spare time.

Obviously don't know the terms of his contract but really hope Evans isn't riding off into the sunset with a massive compensation cheque in his back pocket courtesy of the licence payer (ok, it would probably be done via electronic transfer but you know what I mean!).

I can see Rory Reid stepping in for Evans, he's the most natural presenter out of all of them and I can imagine them putting him and Le Blanc together with Harris and Schmitz doing the driving/Extra Gear etc
Nah, they'll all be replaced by David Cameron, Jeremy Corbyn, Boris Johnson, Nigel Farage with special European correspondent Jean-Claude Juncker.

I'm just guessing here but I think r11co is having his favourite drink, sitting in a very comfy chair.

What's the history there? Simply a total loathing of CE?

Chris Harris claps his own reports, which is enough for me to hate him for ever. Just a little phobia of mine. Like people on quiz shows who get the answer right and then join in with the audience applause.

Hanging is too good for them, the tts.

Watched it last night matt le blanc seemed more in the style of JC with his low key approach so give it a go with him in the seat
Some eejert driving a white car I can remember less than little about it, then they had two so called celebrities I'd never heard of who seemed to go on and on about something I'd never heard of, I listened for as much as I could take and never saw what came next

So, before this thread gets too unwieldy like the other 97 threads, could some kind soul pick out the best eps for me to watch? I hear the last one was quite good, and ep3 maybe? Anyway, much appreciated. smile

Enjoyed the series as much as the previous ones and suspect it will now be even better.

Feel for Evans, he tried, probably tried too hard.

Exactly this.

Eddie Jordan is otiose.

Sabine is underused, and the Stig joke is wearing thin, so make her the on-hand professional.
Nice word. Had to look it up.
Me too, and was about to post the same.

In fact, this post is otiose. smile
I thought you had misspelt obtuse smile

Great news. I can start watching it again. No more irritating 50 year old Evans dressed up as a teenager!
