Piss poor. With a sentimental ending to get the faithful to clamour for more episodes. Pretty cynical really IMO.

There’s a reason why these series end when they do , and wheeling them out for old times sake is normally a recipe for disaster. Think tonight was a proven point of that. Wanted to like it but just found it too forced and without the natural feel of the original. Shame really.

I’d never watched Gavin and Stacey until this evening’s special.

Is it supposed to be funny?

It was lacking ideas and excelled at mediocrity. It seemed to be more about the writers' characters than Gavin and Stacey.

Luckily, it had the usual Christmas Day dross to easily rise above and seemed good in comparison.

This. Well I enjoyed it. Still has the old charm and left me wanting more.

Figured it would be rubbish so buggered off for a bath, the OH will be raving about it no matter how good or bad it may be.

Liked the old series, didn’t really like this one sadly.

Based on the ending I assume they’re gearing up for more episodes.
