Like the first half of Jeepers Creepers? It could have been very good but they completely destroyed it with that flying devil-thing.

Speeding truck...? scary

Be-winged 'chakan' character... not scary...
Absolutely spot on, me and a friend got sucked in by the hype and decided to make an event of it so travelled into London and went to Leicester Square to watch it at a premium, started off well and then as soon as you saw that thing it just went downhill. This is the problem with a lot of movies these days, they presume that the audience lack enough imagination to scare themselves so have to make it all really obvious or go for the basic "ooo a loud noise, let's make them jump".

The whole Duel style thing works well as long as you don't know who the person driving is and it remains a random thing that could happen to anyone... including you...

Watched it on Xmas eve as a 12 year old. It ruined Christmas.

Gwoemul 'The Host' (2006)
Korean river monster flick with a few comedy moments.

The Mist (2007)
Above average Stephen King novel to film worth watching for the ending.

Cube (1997)
Quite original, low budget film for anyone that has been stuck in a lift.

I'd got a US copy of Blair Witch Project on DVD before all the hype and anti hype hit here.

I didn't realise I had a bejesus in me until watching that film.

I no longer have the bejesus. yikes

The ONLY thing that ever scared me was a program on TV on halloween years ago when I was a kid called Ghost Watch or something? It was a "live" show in a haunted house and they were seeing all sorts of crazy stuff going on. I didnt know it was a windup and believed it was real and it scared the crap out of me at the time.
yes I watched that when it was aired, remember the cats all meowing together and the scratching noises yikes

+2 for "ghostwatch" had everyone in my school wound up and spooked out by Halloween.

I vaguely remember the scene at the end where the presenter went into the cupboard and creepy stuff started and then it cut the signal...

"The Others" with Nicole Kidman.

"They" Makes you a bit scared of the dark.

"Pulse" Mostly because it had Kristen Bell...

Wolf Creek did it for me, but then I did watch it in a hostel in Australia, the night before I was due to take a trip into the outback...

I'm not too manly to admit that some scenes from Event Horizon frightened the crap out of me eek
Agreed. The combination of being so far from 'safety' and exploring the concept of hell etc...

+1, I found this very disturbing... Ghost VBRJ is bad mmmkay (although quite cool to watch).

In addition for me: Alien, Evil Dead, Event Horizon

I never found the Descent scary at all, I mean seriously, what even happened at the end and who gives a flying squirel fk about that chick's dead kid? And who uses Ice Axes for caving? Hint is in the name Mr Director...

The Excorcist

The Omen

28 Days (and to a lesser extent 28 weeks) Later

The Descent scared the absolute bejusus out of me. Fantastic movie

Stigmata has some moments

Definitely agree with Alien

Dawn of the Dead is plenty jumpy, if not particularly intense.

The Blair Witch Project scared the absolute tits off me when I saw it in the cinema. Not seen it in years mind.

Same as above with "The Thing" maybe - poor effects probably make it have less impact now.
The THing is a 28 year old film where the effects have stood the test of time.

Stuff I wanna see.
Quarantine
The Mist

Stuff I have seen and agree with
The Amityville Horror
Jaws
Arachnaphobia
Hostel
Alien/Aliens
Evil Dead
The Grudge
Dawn of the Dead
The Descent
Don't look now
The Haunting
the bit in Event Horizon with the eyes on the monitor.

Not heard of this one but fancy it.

Love zombie/apoc films. Hope they get on with making Dawn of the Dead 2!

I can remember watching 'The Fog' as an young'un, alone, and being quite scared. Don't know if would still have the same effect today as I've not seen it since.

+ a few more ticks for Event Horizon, Jaws and Alien.

Quarantine was a pretty nasty film, especially the last 30 minutes or so. *shudder*

The Haunting. Oh yes! With the heavy banging and rattling of the doors it makes a great classic creepy old house film.

The Keep - Blimey I remember renting that on VHS to play on my old piano key JVC video-recorder.
