Unfriended - 2014

Watched this (in the dark!) with my 16 year old daughter.

We both thought it was excellent. It takes a new twist on the found footage theme, is very well done and is very much of the time. It'll be interesting to watch in 10 years!

7/10

Natalie Portman? Some very uncomfortable scenes.

Shows how much difference a good director and script makes as she is wooden as hell in Star Wars.

I think it depends on the market but in the UK it´s just called "Leon".

Cracking movie - the young girl is Natalie Portman - probably her best role... boxedin

I think Black Swan is probably her best.

I agree, so was everyone in my opinion save for old hands, Liam and Ian.

The General release 'Leon' is very cool
The Director's cut gets rather more disturbing

It's been an evening of reminiscing after just watching BMX Bandits.
Awesome film. Although I did end up with some serious injuries after trying to copy one of the stunts from the film.

The Visit
Not a fan of the hand held/lost footage style of scary film really...but I have liked M. Knight Shalayamananan's stuff on the whole, (Unbreakable being in my top 5) and the trailer set this up quite well.
2 kids go stay with grandparents for a week.... it doesn't go well.

Apart from another decent MKS 'reveal' this was dull as fk....
Quite well acted I guess...just not a lot going on... 4.6/10
I cringed the first time the kid was rapping.
I switched off the second time. About 10/15 minutes in?

0/10.

-1 I hated it.
Because?
Maybe because it was so hyped.
I didn't like any of the characters apart from Rorschach.
The whole film bummed me out not helped by the appalling Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen.
I didn't like the book or the artwork.
Not my thing I guess. smile

Hell or High Water - no cliche untouched - cowboys, indians, bank robbers, damsels

but the pacing, acting, music and cinematography are spot on - simple but brilliant, and funny 9/10
Is this out yet? Quite fancy seeing this
Previews were Weds and Thurs with general release today, does look good.

Ah, I thought you liked the book.

The film actually turned me onto the Cohen version of Hallelujah, love it now. biggrin

The Witch - watched it last night, and was one of those films that I honestly didn't know if I liked or not when it ended. Very well made and good looking, but unsure if I enjoyed it. Having thought about it a bit more, I think it was excellent. It's not a traditional horror film but a great character study of an isolated Puritan family who begin to turn on eachother. Good ending as well, which for me is a lot more open than it first appears
