'Vaaren' was Monschau in Germany, I've been over that little footbridge.

Fake alps added in the background

Or is he actually dead?

Really enjoyed that, a more satisfactory ending than the last series smile

Oh I really enjoyed both, just felt there were a few too many loose ends in the first series.

Here's hoping there's a third series...

Happy that in was properly concluded albeit a bit swift as is often the case these days.

There are usually plenty leaps in probability but the big one jumping out was the rapid, quiet, and organised armed response.

Liked the butcher's little F' you reaction to his missus.

But to her she was put into a 6 month coma terrorised by everyone and then she found on his personal camera pictures of the girl. He might be pissed off but there was compelling evidence against him - and given his like of S&M with his Mrs it added possibly he was into kiddie porn etc.

Don't think I've seen a depiction of 'special armed team' operating without gloves before.

Also surprisingly the previously incarcerated daughter is left to wander back through the woods after release, not immediately taken into medical care/check up and structured recuperation to aid her mental state etc etc

And lastly the two girls could not be mistaken for sisters (or even cousins) by anyone with normal eyesight, let alone each other.

But at least there was an ending. And the blanking out was good finale.

He has been signed up for series three so I don't think he is going to die.

But the girls were taken at 5/6 years of age 11 years passes.
They have similar complexion
Same height
Same build (well one now has big jugs the other lacking)
Same hair colour
Same tattoos
Same eye colour

Take Madeline McCann who know what she really look like today if she is still alive?

Taking an adult would be far easier to identify after a decade of captivity but a young child to come back as a late teenager would be a challenge. DNA too proving it would make it hard not to believe

That's not how I remember them, but then it's seven weeks ago since they were disappeared!

Trying to remember - the younger brother is now 19 (?) and she was taken for 11 years (from 2014), so 13 years back when bro was 8yo, making her...11 at the time?

It's the facial features that are so different, and it's faces we're generally familiar with, no?

Not that it matters one jot.

They said early twenties earlier in the series.

Felt a bit sorry for Sam. Thought they would know better than to go after an armed man in the woods and even follow the path after the dog had been alerted.

Maybe but if your daughter who'd been locked up by a manic peadophile I'd guess any logic goes out the window and every second counts + you might be able to have some alone time with him before the police arrive.

He did get to see her alive though which is all that mattered to him.

laugh when the perfusionist said count from 10 backwards I commented to my wife that I got down to 4 when I was in. Then Baptiste got down to 3.

That would be about right. If you remember the scene at the school where she was sitting in a wooded area wearing a red coat telling her irritating little brother (called "Midget") to bugger off.

Still he is supposed to be an experienced infantry officer but yet still walked up an obvious kill zone to an easily defended position after the early warning dog let him know they were coming!

After entralling me for seven weeks the ending, or rather how they got to it, was a bit of a disappointment to me.

Arriving in the exact Swiss town and happening to go to the same cafe, be served by the same waiter who met Sophie once, who happens to catch a glimpse of her on Baptiste's phone, which then leads them to the cabin - coincidental or what? It felt like they knew they had to wrap up lots of loose ends in an hour so rushed through it to get them into the woods, completely implausibly. I know it's drama and all that but, given how it was otherwise so tremendously well written I felt they'd run out of ideas on the key point of it, tracking Gettrick down.

Roll on Series 3 though, I have no complaints with the licence fee when the Beeb produces quality like this.

Not as far as I could see.

Good series I thought, very gripping all the way through. There were some bit which required a willing suspension of disbelief - would Gettrick really have grassed up Stone and Reed when he had 3 people locked up?
