Jason Bourne - so so. Some good scenes, but also some that really grated (the makers of the swat truck should have a red hot phone by now with various police/militaries wanting their indestructible machine!)

Mechanic: Resurrected. Stupidly enjoyable, far more so than Bourne (who, let's face it, is a miserable git)

Night Crossing (1982)

True story of a couple of families seeking to escape the DDR in the late '70's in a homemade ballon. Oddly a Disney film.

Interesting for period and subject, plus features a decent amount of Eastern Bloc tin/compressed card motoring about.

Mad Max wasn't that bad, acting still quite ropey, but the story good.

Last night we rented a Norwegian film called The Wave (2015).

It is about what happens when a mountain pass above the scenic, narrow Norwegian fjord Geiranger, collapses and creates an 85-meter high violent tsunami. A geologist and his family is the main focus on the film, and very good it is too.

If you don't mind subtitles, it is a very well made film, leaving you on the edge of your seat a few times.

I know it's not the last word in story telling, acting or whatever but as a cinematic experience wow! Just got my new 3D Projector set up (doing the 7.1 sound upgrade today) and it's so immersive it really makes an amazing occasion of watching a film.

Any advice on other good to watch 3D films gladly accepted, I know people don't rate 3D but on a huge screen it really works smile

Isn't that based on a true story as well?

The Shining

Revisited after a long absence. Having watched an awful lot of dross over the intervening 10 years, it was such a joy to return to a short, tight film where not a single second was wasted on unnecessary drivel. It was immense. As was Jack Nicolson of course and also Shelley Duvall who I'd previously never given much thought too.

It's on Sky Movies at the moment, so well worth reminding yourself just how good a film it is.

Westworld

Has does a near 50 year old film seem so fresh and unique?! Loved it, can't believe the concept hasn't really been explored more over the years, looking forward to the TV series which is also supposed to be excellent.

I guess Jurassic Park is quite similar in some ways (not surprising considering the writer), Cabin in the Woods as well.

Devil.

Five people trapped in a lift and one of them is Satan. Not at all bad. Don't need to see it again but the ideal little thriller to watch while you're doing the ironing.

7/10.

Million Dollar Baby

Been meaning to see this for ages as I am a big Eastwood and Freeman fan but never got round to it.
Really enjoyed it, cried like a little girl tho!

8/10
Need to watch something a bit light hearted now after that, 'Schindlers List' perhaps.

Gravity's 3D effects are pretty good.

taking advantage of a day off and watching Lord Jim and a bloody good film it is too.

based on a book by joseph conrad and it Heart of Darkness lite and veru well made. Peter O'toole is superb in it and has eli Wallach (of spaghetti western fame) as "kurtz"

'The Nice Guys' 6/10.

Funny old film, sort of part-buddy cop film, part comedy, but not really laugh out loud funny. Very strange in parts.

I liked it, but I don't know why.
