Thrawn books were good as were the next few. It all went down hill with the Vong thing. Also I remember some garbage about Correlia etc. Talon Karrde, Mara Jade, Jacen and stuff are all good stories but killing Chewie, get the fk away from my characters!
And that is the key issue, fans think they own the universe and in some ways they do. That doesnt translate into tangible rights though.
I will be very annoyed if there isnt a Rogue Squadron movie at some point! That is if they can tear Wedge away from Holby City!

I bugged out before the Vong thing. Having looked at the timeline of the novels and checking my bookshelf, I have The Crystal Star and the Corellian Trilogy, but nothing after that. I do have far more Star Wars books than I thought I did though. There was (and still is) a very good secondhand bookshop in Cheltenham called Moss Books which is absolutely floor-to-ceiling with reasonably priced books and a standard weekend pursuit when I lived in Cheltenham would be to walk down there for a rummage. One time he had a load of Star Wars books come in at around £2 a paperbook and I bought up the lot. richtea78 said:

Oh, absolutely. I think George Lucus had the attitude that the fans owned the Expanded Universe and he owned the films, and made it clear that he considered them different realities / different branches of canon. I might be wrong there though. Bullett said:
The 'fans' are not the target audience. The vast majority of people who will go see these movies don't know or care about the expanded universe.
I find your lack of faith..... disturbing. Do not underestimate the power of middle-aged Star Wars geeks dragging their entire family along to see it.

There was an interview with Denis Lawson in a newspaper at the weekend, and he is absolutely not interested in anything further to do with Star Wars. And that is the key issue, fans think they own the universe and in some ways they do. That doesnt translate into tangible rights though.

I'm in my 40's, I saw the films read the books and comics. I'll take my kids to see these new ones.
There is nothing in not pandering to fans that will make them bad movies. They just need to stick to what's in the films as 'background' and any nods to EU will just be that nods they won't be plot critical.
It's set far enough in the future from the original trilogy to both include the stars and jump much EU anyway so almost a reboot without throwing anything away.

In all seriousness, I don't disagree with you. There is nothing in not pandering to fans that will make them bad movies. They just need to stick to what's in the films as 'background' and any nods to EU will just be that nods they won't be plot critical.

I wanna read the Graphic Novel stuff, the Luke Dark side sounds wk
It's very good actually. He decides that the only way to beat the Emperor is to "pretend" to turn to the Dark Side and join the Emperor, but the Emperor knows that the longer he is exposed to it, the more it will seduce him and he will slide down the slippery slope. I won't spoil it by saying any more though.

I wanna read the Graphic Novel stuff, the Luke Dark side sounds wk, but how he grows into the most powerful Jedi yet (with a super kind of lightning sounds good), and the Super Star Destroyer of the resurrected Emperor.
If you want I can look into posting a couple of them to you?I wanna read the Graphic Novel stuff, the Luke Dark side sounds wk, but how he grows into the most powerful Jedi yet (with a super kind of lightning sounds good), and the Super Star Destroyer of the resurrected Emperor.
Dark Empire is the particularly good one, but if there's others you're interested in I have most of them.
(I would like them back once you're done with them though!)

possibly one of the best strategy games ever, if anyone knows where i can get a copy that works on Win7 please tell me.
Is a direct follow on from Episode 6, with a developing storyline and changes each time you play it. absolutely fantastic, sadly underrated mainly due to its complicated micro-management but all worth it once you've built a fleet of 20 Super Star Destroyers or discovery Chewbacca can use the Force.

I had a boxed copy, but as far as I'm aware, nobody has been able to get it to work since Windows XP.

Excellent, a most generous offer!Dark Empire is the particularly good one, but if there's others you're interested in I have most of them.

I'd be interested in reading Dark Empire. It is an encapsulated story? Doesn't need anything else to know what's going on?
Yes Halb, Chewie died in the later EU stuff. He died saving one of Hans kids but it's still pretty rubbish
It did allow for some interesting character development for Han but I'd have preferred Leia to have died.
In fact I think some of the really later EU stuff was several hundred years later.

Relatively. Leia and Han are married now and there's some other bits and pieces, but I think it stands alone ok.I'd be interested in reading Dark Empire. It is an encapsulated story? Doesn't need anything else to know what's going on?
PM me your details and I can look into postage if you like.
