What's the average ago of the listeners?

I thought the problem with Moyles was he attracted an old fart audience.
I haven't seen in mentioned anywhere - when the last lot of figures came out they said the average age went down so they were happy, but I haven't seen the average age mentioned this time.
His remit was to lose the old fogies like us, so if he lost a million over 24s then the bosses will be happy, the target age group is 16-24 I think so most won't be at school.
"But Grimmy losing a million listeners isn't so bad. He was chosen by Radio 1 to appeal to younger listeners, which, naturally, means losing older ones. More than three quarters of the listeners that have drifted in the last quarter are over 25. The average age of listener is at a two-and-a-half year low. Moyles was also losing a lot of listeners to Evans before he left, so Grimshaw would have to mount a landslide swing before he starts to gain new listeners."

I listen to radio 1 in a morning from about half 6 to just after 7

I don't think it's any worse than when Moyles was doing it. All I ever seemed to hear when he did it was about how he had been for a run and lost some weight and what they were going to order for breakfast. They probably did have some better features but they're much of a muchness

What I have noticed is that they now seem to have taken half of 1 extras playlist and are ramming it down our ears. That crank song for instance has me turning over to capital instantly

The only thing I miss about Moyles is the lack of Mcflyday

I disagree, Moyles and the gang seemed to be like "normal" folk, however Grimey seems to be trying to be a 14 y.o girl.

I'm 22 and can't stand Radio 1, Radio 2 is too old fashioned and heart is awful. I'm screwed hehe.

The standard answer to this is 6 Music on digital radio.

Or recording late night R1 output via iPlayer (which is better) and burning it to CD or putting it on your iPod.

A faff but you appreciate new tracks more if you listen to them a few times.

I was going by age, being a child of the late 60s, the 80s is my era for music, which is why I have the Absolute 80s app on my phone to take it with me whereever I go. wink

Because they want to be the teenagers radio station and they're going to crash and burn for it. Teenagers do NOT listen to radio a lot.

The IPod is getting a heavy workout in the Coupe at the moment, I have no DAB and normal radio is all rubbish. Too old or too young.

Portable DAB radio (mine was £25 from the Comet closing down sale), MP3 to cassette adaptor (£2 at B&Q), job done. Uses the aux lead as an antenna, recharge from mini-USB cable.

For the first time in years I will have radio 1 on, Grimmy is ok, not brilliant but I can listen to him, Zoe Ball, Sarah Cox and Chris Moyles were station changers for me, Chris Evans was the last time I listened to Radio 1 regular, strangely enough I can't have him on anymore, without the arrogence he is a whinny st, Grimmy does come across a bit effeminate but I can listen to him.

The 'feature' where they play the same sh*t song every Friday?
Why not just buy the single for 79p?

Maybe that's it, I turned 25 two weeks ago and haven't listened to R1 breakfast since.
Moving to Austria next month anyway, I'm sure the German radio will be less annoying!
