Klyden is such a wet blanket, glad they’ve been got rid of. Also thought for a moment we’d lose the doctor and got a little bit excited. Hopes dashed!
I thought that too at first, that she’d quit to do the procedure, then she offered it up before the alternative plan was made.

I suspect that we haven't seen the last of him
We thought the same. Although in many ways he's a bit of a superfluous character at the best of times.

It feels like he’s mainly there for the Topa story arc

On a related note, I watched A Million Ways To Die In The West yesterday, very enjoyable film from Seth if you want a dose of his humour.
And Charlize Theron, don't forget Charlize Theron cloud9

Not sure how far on the thread is but im at episode 5 of season 3. I have to say althoguh the humour has gone it has become full on star trek tackling complex episodes and also character driven episodes.

It really is the true continuation of proper trek,

Just watched a Tale of 2 Topas. ST Discovery take note, this is how you tackle a tricky topic of today without shoehorning it in for the sake of it and ramming it down your throat. Good ep.
Have to agree. Similar subject matter covered but in a far better way in The Orville.
+1

Entertainment industry in general take note - here is how to do gender social comment and strong females without turning it into ant-patriarchy misandry.

Brilliant writing, genuinely emotional performances.

Only tiny disappointment for me was that they should have kept the mystery regarding Bortus's singing prowess. The karaoke joke will never have the same impact now.

I thought the joke was going to be that he was terrible and the only reason the whole crew went to see it was for plausible deniablity (very very cryptic pun/link to star trek there) about topa getting the surgery. But he was actually good

I preferred last week's episode but the series thus far is excellent.

As for the singing, I am surprised Wynne Evans didn't turn up and sing Go Compare...

I thought he sang in season 1 and was genuinely terrible?

Wasn't at all sure I was enjoying the episode until the last 10 minutes or so, and then it all came together and really appreciated it, possibly the strongest one yet for me from this season.

He was interrupted just as he was about to start.

Not really sure how I feel about the latest episode.

Very heavy handed with the "rules are rules" direction, got to feel sorry for older Gordon.

Nice to see Isaac out of costume.

Was half expecting a T2-style biker confrontation biggrin

I thought that it was great. Shades of The Inner Light about it too.

The biker thing was nonsense though and unnecessary

I thought it was a nice little bit of playing with the audience's expectations.

Different ways of achieving the same outcome, almost a metaphor for different kinds of SF.

Enjoyed it. A fine balance between humour, drama and pathos and they really manage to nail it, I think. Excellent.

I enjoyed it, aside from how easy it is to time travel (seems to be a trek constant that when they need to time travel, there’s always a technobabble way to do it).

There was a nice injection of humour on this one which I appreciated (seeing bortus smile for the selfie). Also shows (IMO) how good an actor Scott Grimes is.

I agree on the biker scene, I too was expecting Isaac to do a bit of Arnie homage.

Yeah actually Scott Grimes was definitely a good shout. He really showed range on this one, instead of the usual wise cracking/have a drink character he's played so far.
