Gets very samey and I stopped watching when, for a while, it became all about him rather than the cars and repair/bodges. Hope he's gone back to being about the cars.
M539 Restorations is worth watching.Ep 6 of Ed's new channel went from basic servicing or an A series mini engine and talking about plug gaps to 3D scanning for a gearbox adaptor plate on his electric ice cream van.
Once again, not sure who his audience is.

M539 Restorations is worth watching.Wish he had a bit more space though, his workshop is very cramped!

I left feeling amazed that Edd hasn't gone up in flames a few times. First the shower of fuel from the Range Rover and its rotted fuel lines, then the Outspan Mini spewing gas all over the top of the engine thanks to a nearly non-existent fuel hose. The orange baffled me somewhat, with Edd saying it was running but a bit roughly, before seeing all the things that he seemed to ignore when he had been driving it previously. It looks like is is designed to roll over, not something I would want to drive very far or very fast.. Once again, not sure who his audience is.
The electric ice cream van is obviously a paid commission from some company, so he can afford to do all those things. But aside from being slightly curious about it all, it is really not something I would care about. But his legion of devotees seem to like it all.

I'm not sure the orange is designed to roll over. He mentioned that because of the short, square wheelbase it might be possible to get a couple of wheels off the ground but if that thing goes over he's going to get hurt because it's just a fibreglass body there's no safety cage or structure inside the shell.
Ironically, I reckon that if it did have a cage then the higher centre of mass would make it actually more likely to roll. Clockwork Cupcake said:

Hadn't seen this thread before but I, too, am struggling to get into this new channel. I watch a lot of stuff on YouTube these days and have become a bit of a Mustie1 addict over the COVID induced time at home.
Edd's current stuff is just a bit too (over) produced for me. He could go with something much less manufactured and drop all the product placement which I find a real turn off. He could also dedicate 30 minutes to one thing rather than flitting about- I think (his) audiences have a much greater ability to focus on and enjoy a single technical piece than perhaps he or his production team give us credit for. His undoubted strength is his technical ability and creativity, so just concentrate on that.
It's a bit odd in the sense that in a DriveTribe interview he did he expressed exhaustion/boredom with "that TV stuff" meaning all the BS that goes with TV production but his new channel seems carved straight from the same model.

I'm enjoying the new channel.
Although everytime I see that Range Rover I think doing odd jobs on it is comparable to pissing on a house fire.
Good analogy. It seems so utterly fked that there's no point in throwing even another 10p at fixing it. But perhaps it's only there as a convenient source of jobs for Edd to do - as in, "any job I ever want to demonstrate will need doing on that RR" !Although everytime I see that Range Rover I think doing odd jobs on it is comparable to pissing on a house fire.

I hate to say it, but I think you are right. Just seems a bit dry without some Brewer tomfoolery.Maybe Jonny Smith
Episode 7 was different again, with 5 minutes of water-jet cutting of adapter plates for the ice cream van, then a loooong sit down with Danny Hopkins of Practical Classics where they discussed future ideas that I doubt they will ever be able to get to, followed by a few minutes of assembly of the aforementioned water-jet pieces, complete with artsy slo-mo video of drills producing cuttings and then tapping said drilled holes by hand, set to classical music. The pacing was simply terrible. The content was only slightly less so. Nothing at all on the Range Rover or Outspan Mini. The ice cream van project was obviously done some time ago as Edd made reference to it in the past tense and lamented that it did not have enough battery capacity built in to be as practical as he would have liked.
I honestly don't know what to make of all this. It almost seems to be done out of desperation, with whatever bits and pieces he can scrape together cobbled up into a video..
