Yep, that storyline is taking a season break, presumably so Bran can look even older.

there is now a gaping hole in my life now that we finished series four last night.

not happy.

I may now give the books a go. sooo many loose ends left untied.

quick question though - series four - does that cover all the books currently available or will I learn a lot more if I read everything up to pres??

thanks.

I thought the whole thing was utterly superb though.....

The series has covered roughly 99% of the first three books, and elements of the fourth and fifth. Due to the way that GRR has structured the story, the time-line is a bit curvy, hence the need for linearisation in the adaptation.
You will learn quite a bit more about the history, the side stories, the incredibly deep sub-plots, the nature of characters and the story, and from bits of the fourth book onwards, more story. Story which will be covered by the end of the next series.
It does look like there will be *major* deviations next series though, so go ahead and read them, it shall make watching the show a richer experience.
