Needs a female lead on the show, the whole show is 50:50 male and female and it feels like it needs the same on the presentation side. The show needs to understand how important it is for young females.
Agreed. I'd actually prefer keeping the Walshes for the hosting/light entertainment stuff - but have a current or retired female athlete doing the post game interviews and things. They really should do a 'extended' show too. Really let the contestant and gladiator personalities come through.

There should also be a kids fitness show.
A bit like having the dancers from Strictly on the One Show every morning so oldies can have a bit of rhythm and exercise with their morning cuppa.
Have Gladiators doing simple exercise routines for kids every day would be superb.
My teenage boy has suddenly discovered a love for volleyball - first sport he's ever shown an interest in. So he wants to train and get fitter/stronger. Instantly, that meant gym and heavy weights - whereas with a bit of guidance he's finding morning bodyweight exercises are doing wonders, he can progress to weight training later.
Yet he, at 17, had no idea how to do a proper push up, or bodyweight squat.
Yes, failing as a parent, I know!

does he love volleyball or just watching young ladies bounce up and down? A bit like having the dancers from Strictly on the One Show every morning so oldies can have a bit of rhythm and exercise with their morning cuppa.

Can't really say i'm that invested in the contestants that i'd sit through an additional 30 minute show.
If anything, I would prefer they made the show a bit shorter and cut out the interviews and locker room scene.
Yeah I agree, one of the nest aspects of the show is it doesn't go down the awful soap opera route like X Factor etc of telling sob stories about the contestants. If anything, I would prefer they made the show a bit shorter and cut out the interviews and locker room scene.

The guy who did callisthenics instead of weight training - damned interesting seeing that play out.
I just had a quick look at the previous events from the old series and I can understand why we will likely never see some again.
Pyramid:
Sharron Davies (completely forgot she was a Gladiator) - Snapped her cruciate ligament after falling.
Jet - Pretty much ended her career as she fell head first from it taking down a contestant and compressing her spine. Doctors said she was lucky to be alive. Producers scrapped the event after the incident.
Atlasphere:
Warrior - Dislocated his knee
Tilt:
Panther - Landed head first and felt her neck almost snap causing severe neck and back injuries.
Nightshade - Damaged her neck after falling backwards from the platform.
Pole-Axe:
Zodiac - Fell from the pole and snapped her neck in two places ending her career as an athlete. They removed the event and reintroduced it later adding harnesses for safety.
Didn't Lightning have a bad fall on Hang Tough?
Did anyone notice on the Edge event when Chung was taken out, it looked really close to the edge of the safety net. It may have been the camera angle but it looked as if the Gladiator took them off with enough force they could overshoot the net.

Yeah some pretty bad injuries there but most sports do. I think it's the risk you take when doing it it you'd hope the organisers would try to mitigate it as much as possible. Pyramid:

I thought exactly the same with Chung but does add a bit more excitement! Maybe put some spikes down the bottom as well?!
Some of that is 'normal sporting injury'.
But things like Pyramid or Tilt were constructed in such a way that frankly no sport could exist like that, as no one would make it to any level of competency before permanently damaging themselves!
It's why I'd like to see stuff like Swingshot - something completely different from anyone's experience, so a 'level playing field', inherently pretty damned safe, and quite cool to watch.

And a hungry Lion to stay with the Gladiator theme. I thought exactly the same with Chung but does add a bit more excitement! Maybe put some spikes down the bottom as well?!

I noticed that happened a couple of times in the series. But it did make me wonder if there's another vertical net that goes around the edge of the horizontal one.Though that might hinder people getting off. Edited by TO73074E on Friday 12th April 10:38
