Transformers - Age of bks

This really irks me. It could be so good. Whalberg (who I normally quite like) was rubbish. What's with all the feel good family bks?

Honestly I don't know why they didn't just use the original material, they clearly can't come up with a good story line!

5/10 purely becuase it had the transformrs in it (should have had more dinobots though).

The Raid 2

I'm going to go against the grain with this one and say I didn't like it as much as the first one. I found the story hard to follow. Of course the action was superb, some of the fight scenes were sublime.

7/10

Edge of Tomorrow

I like Emily Blunt a lot.
I liked the film.
I liked the idea of it.
I didn't like the execution of it. Not really sure why, I can't put my finger on it really. It was good, but it wasn't great. Like most modern sci-fi films.

6.5/10

Need for Speed

wk, utter wk. Loved it though. Fast moving cars with loud noises. Ace.

5/10 for a film 7.5/10 for entertainment value.

From recommendations on here and elsewhere I've got Bad Words, Blue Ruin, Ping Pong Summer and Under the Skin to watch this week.

The Dark Knight. A bit behind the curve, I know, but this was a second viewing after seeing it years ago and being massively underwhelmed. I definitely enjoyed it more this time mostly because of Heath Ledger. Some of the special effects look really rough (helicopter crash especially). The overall plot and characters are well done though and it all hangs together with a solid internal logic. The old get myself captured to then break out again plot was still original at this point but it was well sign posted. I'd forgotten some of the plot points and twists (Gordon, the girl etc) so it was entertaining. It loses points because of the husky Batman voice.
I feel prepared for Rises now.

Blue Jasmine

Cate Blanchette plays a woman who previously very wealthy, loses it all (husband's indiscretions) and following a break down is forced to live with her poor sister.

Never even heard of this film (Blanchette won an Oscar for her performance) but was very pleasantly surprised. Really really good character based film (Blanchette is deserving of the accolades) and very much worth a watch.

8/10.

22 Jump Street - Was a great 'brain out' flick, lots of laughs, funny as the first one, and enjoyed the little jibes about the fact it was a sequel.

Entertaining 8/10

I really have bad taste in films smile

Film fest for me this weekend

The Truman show - 8/10
It's old but a really good film i thought. Thought Jim Carey rally made the film

Forest Gump - 7/10
Again seen it a few times but it still doesn't failt to entertain me. I don't like some bits but the majority is good.

Sabotage - 5/10
Got it because it had Arnold Schwarzenegger in it. The plot wasn't bad and full of people getting shot and killed but the ending to me was terrible.

Need for Speed 3/10

It gets 3 just because of the cars that are in it and the skill of the stunt drivers. I loved the main actor who was also in breaking bad but to me there just wasn't a good enough story line. Some of the car racing too could of been like any PH meet too.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, 8/10. Thought it was awesome. Just the right amount of run time too, didn't get uncomfrotable like I did in transfromers even though we watched it in a small town cinema in Oakhempton.

Malificent, 7/10. Pretty good to be fair.

Pretty much the same feelings from me. And I'm not sure if this should go in the Bad Film thread also. I sort of wish I hadn't avoided all reviews before seeing it.

It could have been so much better, but it just went through the motions frown
Blonde eye candy was exactly that, nothing else, Irish guy sounded Aussie at times, and Whalberg seemed poor, almost as if he realised the sub level of acting around him, so thought why should he up his game?

I think they need to move away from Michael Bay for the next film/films. he's just copy and pasting from the last few movies he's made.
And I despised the blatant advertising throughout. The Truman Show had subtler advertising in it! biggrin

I thought it was better than the first, you don't have bad taste btw it just really is very funny!

7.9 rating on IMDB! Higher than the first.

Watched "Under the skin" tonight. Was expecting something weird, but nothing as crap as this. If SJ wasn't in this film no-one would have heard of it.

Her method of despatching her victims was interesting, and the last 5 minutes very good, but the rest of it was like an hour-long advert persuading people never to go to Glasgow.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

Watched this again last night - I remember seeing it when I was a wee lad of 11 in the cinema, all these years on and it really is still a genuinely brilliant film. And plus, pirates are just fking cool.

I know pretty much the worlds population have seen this by now but if you've not, give it a go. Probably one of my all time favourite summer blockbusters.

2/3rds of the way through Assault on Wall Street... an Uwe Boll film... now normally that should fill you with horror and give you a fair idea of what the film is like and yet... and yet... it's really good - it's a shock I know, but so far it's good
