The Mrs just had this on the tv. Cracking film about the bond between a mother and her young son, held captive in the ROOM.
Won't say anymore in case anyone goes on to watch it.

Solid 8/10
Yeah I also watched it last night, good film.

Today I watched Flight of the Intruder

I haven't seen it for years so it was good to see it again. The bit that really stood out was that cast, so many familiar faces! William Dafoe being fantastically odd as ever and it hasn't aged anything like as bad as most flying films, certainly aged better than Iron Eagle although that's maybe not a surprise.

Just watched Blue Ruin

The oddest revenge film I have ever seen! Had me gripped/captivated from start to finish! Brilliant.

Ouija Origin of Evil - for a sequel to a horror film with a 7% rating on Rotten Tomatoes this was far better than it had any right to be. Clearly a lot of effort had gone into it, even putting the little reel change symbols in the corner, creepy and well acted

7/10

tiny tiny budget, and the director's mate playing lead. Great little film.
I'll be watching that again now I've written that...

Birdman: Urm, well acted and shot but I wasn't blown over by it, maybe I'm just thick.

Fury: incredible, basically.

The wedding had me rolling about laughing !
You know Pasternak? hehe

Watched this evening thanks to you guys. Good fun.

Shades of 'Tales of the Unexpected' about to it, which is no bad thing.

Thought the Pasternak first one had a great simplicity about it. Rest good too.

If it wasnt for a couple of jarring continuity/ reshoot/ editing errors that annoyed me quite a lot I'd give it a higher score. But still.
Glad somebody mentioned this. I never notice these things, but when Brie Larson is in a scene in her vest about 15 minutes before she actually takes her shirt off you begin to wonder what the hell!

Sounds good. Read a few reviews and they claim it's unpredictable. At last an original film?

Just watched Arrival.

3/10

Only good bit was seeing Kang & Kodos, the aliens in the Simpsons. Apart from that it was bloody awful.

I watched The Arrival on Netflix last night. Made in 1996, Charlie Sheen plays a SETI scientist who intercepts an alien radio signal and uncovers an alien conspiracy to increase the earth's temperature by pumping greenhouses gases into the atmosphere, destroying mankind and making earth habitable for the alien race.

Some shonky special effects, and even shonkier green screen acting from Sheen, but I still quite enjoyed it. 6/10

The Accountant - 7.5 out of 10. I'm not Ben Afflecks biggest fan. I had my doubts when his big mug appears but glad I stuck with it. Turns out he's actual a pretty good actor when he plays a part with little dialogue. The twist was a tad far fetched but all in all I enjoyed it.

Hunt for the wilderpeople - 8 out of 10. Very enjoyable and laugh out loud moments. A great Sunday hangover flick.

I didn't rate "Room" as highly as others.
Good first hour or so then lost it's way so only a 6/10 from me.

The Shallows - 7/10

Really enjoyed this until the implausibly silly ending. A shame as up to that point it was quite understated and well done.

Agree...but the implausibly silly ending ruined the entire movie for me.

Anyone remember the Michael Douglas movie "The Game"? Same thing except with "The Game" I was so hooked in that I was actually angry LOL.

"The Game" never was an ending that didn't play well with test screenings so badly added to.

"Hunt for the wilderpeople" excellent fim. If you haven't seen "What we do in the shadows" I highly recommend. Same director and also has Rhys Darby in.
