BAH you are both wrong
FACT
Hmm I lack suitable smileys
Seriously it is such a cracking film, don't think it has dated too badly apart from odd CGI shots of the dropship in atmosphere, the film has the weight and mass to special effects that even modern CGI tends to lack and the pacing is brilliant
Part of the reason it works so well is that, aside from the Queen, you never see the Aliens for more than a few seconds. I really wish more modern directors would realise that what you can't see is far scarier than what you can FACT

Quite. One of the most scary scenes is when they know they are close but can't see them, then Hudson pulls that famous trope of sticking his head into a small dark place![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)

Do you mean when the xeno's are in the celing? ![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
If so, that was Hicks, not Hudson.

And this might be a good time to mention this:

No really. They wanted an Anglo-Japanese Corporatation sounding name and for some reason looked at the car industry. Changed Leyland to Weyland and used Yutani (production designers Japanese neighbour) because Toyota was too obvious.
I did not bloody know that!jmorgan said:

Bonus points for naming tunes with samples...
I know "Alien Girl" has some bits in, but what is that other disc I've got with the "watch you;re fire, check your targets" sample in? This conundrum is the bit that will be doing my head in till i get to sleep...

Yes because its crap. Weyland Yutani was named after Camerons neighbors he hated: imdb>Aliens>trivia
No because that's crap, wiki warrior no doubt. The company name goes back to the first film which Cameron has nothing to do with. Ron Cobb (conceptual designer on both films) explains the British Leyland and Toyota origin in person on the dvd.weyland yutani said:

"According to myth, the name for the company, "Weyland Yutani", was taken from the names of Ridley Scott's former neighbors - he hated them, so he decided to "dedicate" the name of the "evil company" to them. In reality the name was created by conceptual designer Ron Cobb (who created the Nostromo and the crew's uniforms) to imply a corner on the spacecraft market by an English-Japanese corporation. According to himself, he would have liked to use "Leyland-Toyota" but obviously could not so he changed one letter in Leyland and added the Japanese name of his (not Scott's) neighbor."

Best get yourself an xbox, PS3, or high end PC if you're a fan of the film. It is supposed to be epic.

Ferro: Stand by to initiate release sequencer. On my mark. Five. Four.
Hudson: We're on an express elevator to hell; going down!
Ferro: Three. Two. One. Mark.
A great film, I watched part of it on Sky a couple of nights ago and then the remainder on DVD last night.

Utterly pointless, but very good none the less! The geek in me loved that, just a shame it had the white text boxes that the guy who made the clip added.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnv9XxXZHfQ&fea...
