Although he does seem to think that it's 'his' street and no-one else can park there.
I have a suit and work in London. I am not a powerfully built director. I do not earn £100k.
Even if I was, I'd still park where I could for free.
I'm familiar with Southmill road having lived in the area, and I'm suprised that it's not already been designated a residents permit controlled zone as most of the other roads in the immediate area either already are or have yellow lines to discourage the commuters.
The daft thing is that the commuters need to traverse the river bridge and then walk through the station car park before boarding their train...

It's not about the walk, it's the cost of parkingThe daft thing is that the commuters need to traverse the river bridge and then walk through the station car park before boarding their train...
Most of the residential areas of Stortford are within a 15-20 minute walk of the station, and I would hazard a guess that the vast majority of commuters do walk the distance to their homes having been one of them.
Indeed, it's one of the things which makes it so attractive to the people who move there, and a reason why house prices get so much higher the closer you are to the centre and the train station.
Although it's daft to say "He's wearing a suit, he must be on 100k", I would say your chances of finding a powerfully built multiple directorship commuter in the area is probably fairly high as it's quite an expensive town to live in. If you don't fancy paying the 7.60 for being next to the station, there are a choice of long stay car parks in the area available for between £3 and £4.40 for all day.

That woman who was a bailiff or something-what a total prick. The way she dealt with those people was disgraceful-she really thought she was a big deal with her tabard and clipboard. What an idiot, I hope her husband punches her in the mouth every morning (whilst not advocating violence, sexism, racism, or any other ism)
Anyway, I wonder what happens when these people say 'we're taking your car' if the car is leased?

Those biker guys wound me right up
[with regards to a camera car parked up down the road, catching people making illegal right turns]
"What incentive is there, parking up down- getting them after making the turn"
The incentive is the giant arrow and words on the road saying "Left only", plus the 2 or 3 signs on lamp-posts and poles.

If people didn't bury their heads in the sand when they receive a parking ticket, it wouldn't escalate to £500 plus, so no sympathy from me I'm afraid.
I said that last night as well. You either pay it or contest it, but don't ignore it.But what about the bloke in the Nissan Juke (I think). He said he'd paid around £10k in parking fines !! What ?!
