Repenting & reforming, going against his previous NF way of thinking.
Hence all the footage/flashbacks in that episode to remind us what he used to be like, to ensure the viewer could see both sides of the feelings churning around in Milk's head.
I'm not quite sure they'd kill him over that though, would they? Otherwise why haven't they killed his ex NF mates as well?Hence all the footage/flashbacks in that episode to remind us what he used to be like, to ensure the viewer could see both sides of the feelings churning around in Milk's head.

Ah my bad Might have to have a TIE marathon starting from the film until 90 skipping the rape scene which imo is the most awkward uncomfortable scene i've seen in any tv or film but saying that I haven't really watched that much.
I agree the rape scene was genuinely awkward and awful, and also is something that will stay with me forever (how often can you say that about a TV series...) but to skip it would remove arguably one of the central pillars of the TV series.I am also going to do the marathon watch too, but will need to be 'ready' for it. It is a fantastic piece of filming despite making the viewer feel hideous.
I still feel this series was the weakest, but the last episode was mostly good.
I can see one or two feature length one off episodes in the future though, the cast and director unite behind these characters and rightly so.
I really enjoyed it, though I was expecting more from the grand finale....
Another thing that didn't quite ruin it for me but proved a distraction was that every time Shaun's mum appeared I couldn't help of Finbarr Saunders' mum from Viz, kept expecting someone to talk about "getting their plunger out to shift the muck out of her rusty pipes" or similar....
I suspect I might be alone on this one.

Watching Celebrity Juice last night and 'Shaun' was on it, he mentioned Shane Meadows had put a 'Full Stop' after '90', but only in pencil, if there's bills to be paid don't be surprised at a '92', there's enough loose ends.
And on a tangant, once spotted 'Milky' in my local Porsche dealer.

Shame for Milky really. Thought he would get his revenge and ends up ruining his own life and is no different to the thug that beat him up.
For me, that's the brilliance of Meadows, and why TIE has been so successful. What we expect to happen, invariably never does. The plot/story always takes a diversion that leads us to think/wonder and stay engaged.s3fella said:
Was a bit confused with the Combo thing. Were the guys he was handed over to at the Docks his old Skinhead gang? Or just some ruffians? He seemed to go mad as he left the Van, was that because he knew "this was it" or did he recognise who they were?
If it was his old gang, did he go off on one as he'd turned them in or something?
Just a bit confusing that bit from our end.
I must admit, the Skinhead gang thing didn't cross my mind. I presumed that Milkys family were just handing him over to some heavies. I did think "they're white though..." at the time.If it was his old gang, did he go off on one as he'd turned them in or something?

Anyone know why the people of Uttoxeter were thanked for their help in the final credits? AFAIK, it was shot in Sheffield and Grimsby.
Even though this season was a slow burner I still really enjoyed it.
Some great acting in the last episode. After Combo was passed out the back of the van and carried off I was expecting to see the thugs throw him off the roof of the building. Is he dead though....
Forced to leave by the thugs maybe???

This series is the first I've watched, and I've watched all 4 today which probably helps. Whenever I saw trailers to previous series it just didn't appeal whereas this was more my era.
I loved it, found it funny to begin with then it got proper dark with the caravan scene.
Might have to try and find the rest now.

I'm a huge fan of Meadows. One of my favourite movies is Dead man's Shoes. He always has the perfect mix of getting a great performance from his actors, humour, dark subjects, drama and authentic detail. TIE '90 followed the same formula but it was still brilliant. It was let down by the two comedic idiots in the Nova. They just didn't fit in with the authentic, realistic characters of the previous series. Other than that, top quality drama.
I thought it was good although you almost definitely would have had to have seen the others to fully appreciate it. My only minor gripe was that they all drove cars that were about 3 - 4 years old, I was 20 in 1990 and most of us drove pretty crappy cars that were at least 10 years old back then.

kin' ell you were posh then.....1973 mini clubman
1978 fiesta
and the the pick of the bunch from my lot was a 79 mk2 escort.......
Forgot to say, two little things that grated me a bit...
1. The number of ad breaks Channel 4 squeezed in per show. I felt it broke up the drama too much, and where we should have been captivated throughout, it could only happen for 9-10 minute bursts.
2. The old cars (Metro, Capri) with new style (2001 onwards) font number plates.

A vintage car of mine played quite a prominent part in a period drama. They didn't even cover up the modern style orange Fram oil filter which was plainly visible in shot. It seems that 99.9% of the population don't have a clue about the little details like that, or font on number plates, so the production team don't bother either.2. 1971 Escort followed by a 1978 Toyota of some kind, then onto a 1977 Capri 3l fitted with 2.8 running gear, an awesome rust busket but nice and fast. They covered 1988-1990. Certainly nowhere near 2-3 years old.
