Looking forward to seeing Monkey presenting TG, it's a great choice and I'm happy for him.
As a European, I had to chuckle at that Sun article. "unknown presenters"? I have absolutely no idea who "stars such as Zoe Ball, Suzi Perry and Jodie Kidd" are supposed to be.
all failures who are an embarrassment to our country.
Didn't they apparently turn down the job? hehe

I was going to avoid it because of Evans, if Chris Harris is on it then that's the nail in the coffin afaik.

There is still Amazon to fall back on though so you can enjoy watching the old and out dated thug on that instead.

Pleased for CH, but with Evans on I don't think I could cope watching it. I'm sure Harris and Sabine could turn out a decent show, but it shouldn't be called Top Gear.

To those of you staunchly refusing to watch it because Chris Harris is a presenter:

A) Yes you will

B) You will watch a pre recorded David Starkey programme on the monarchy as a protest instead.

C) You will erect a sixty foot effigy of Chris Harris on your lawn and ceremoniously burn it while it is on.

....I'm guessing A

Am just trying to imagine the ire that will be evoked once the programme is actually aired. hehe

Certainly don't intend to start believing (or reading for that matter) what The Sun, or any other newspaper has to say on, well, anything, to be honest but I do enjoy the irony on here.

A car enthusiast forum (or used to be anyway) where people are berating the fact that Top Gear is potentially heading in the direction of being a car enthusiast orientated TV show. Added to that, people are not going to watch it because they don't like the presenter line up. A lineup of car enthusiasts. Knowledgeable car enthusiasts.

Right....

If people want to watch the motoring equivalent of Chucklevision then Amazon have them covered. For everyone else who actually enjoy cars and motoring, it sounds like, should the line up for the new Top Gear be correct, that it will hit the right spot.

dare I say it with that line up they might just be able to salvage something,

was completely out and uninterested when they announced Evans, nothing against the guy just not a fan of him.

but Coulthard, Harris and the lovely Sabine, count me in.

Roll on the first proper Topgear challenge on a track smile

Top Gear worked because it was three mates pissing about. Like being in the pub after 3-4 pints and taking the piss out of each other, with some cars thrown in.

Can't see that bonhomie being recreated with a German, David Coulthard and Chris Harris, somehow, irrespective of whether they are any good or not as presenters.

I'll still watch it though, like I really wanted to love fifth gear....but then I stopped watching that.

Clarkson et al will probably get the biggest viewing figures ever for a TV show next year

A nice but completely average looking woman.

Maybe like VBH or that Chelsea physio, when a female enters a male dominated environment, they attain this sort of goddess adulation despite being absolutely nothing special

Back to OP, line up looks OK though I find most F1 drivers absolute dullards

The media coverage of this story is ridiculous. Schmitz and Harris are not unknowns, in fact both are better known than either Hammond or May were before they joined TG.

TG viewers know who Sabine Schmitz is. Petrolheads know who Chris Harris is. Everyone knows who David Coulthard is.

In my view, all 3 are excellent choices, and far better than some light-entertainment muppet like Zoe Ball.

Knob.
Not sure about this new Pistonheads lineup.
Might have to start browsing Evo instead.
Although thinking about it, no.

If new TG tries to parrot the old (new) TG it will fail, as it won't live up to what JC, JM and RH will be doing on Amazon. The whole point is to make it new, different and (hopefully) fresh.

I'll certainly give it a go. Personally I like Harris, and will be interested to see what he can do with a BBC-sized production budget. Based on what he gets with one cameraman and a few Go-Pros I think it should be pretty good...

Never watched anything by Chris Harris though I have heard of him, Chris Evans, No, just NO, he grates on my nerves <shiver> but I would watch Sabine and David.

I'll have to go check out Chris Harris on youtube and see, but Evans I really can't stand him, he reminds me of the caricature that Rolf Harris did of himself.
