Well he has a style that's true. Either one likes it or not. I like it, equally there's loads of other styles that I don't so avoid. It's not rocket science.

Looking forward to his Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare based loosely, very loosely hehe, on the true story of The Jedburghs who went behind WW2 enemy lines to work with Resistance to create havoc. Essentially a forerunner to today's black ops.

No doubt although based on true events it will bear little relation to the facts but, dependant where viewers sit as covered in para 1, it will be hugely entertaining. Includes another figure of PH hate Alan Ritchson.

If you want to see him do something a bit different, The Covenant is worth a watch.

I'm also looking forward to the Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. The book of the same name is excellent and enough material for a whole series of films.

I loved every episode... Great story telling and characters - An instant classic I reckon!
It was s busy week for me, Sunday I was a fish seller in The Gentlemen at Billingsgate.

Wednesday a royal phorographer for a certain Netflix series about the Royal family and the whole day ended up on the cutting room floor.

Friday I was a stinking down and out in a police station for a series I can't remember the name of. hehe

Christ it's poor, even for Ritchie. Will I last till the end of episode 2? Hmmm
Poor or just not your thing?

It would be easy to knock it but if this kind of thing entertains you then it's pretty much up there with other Ritchie stuff but can understand why someone wouldn't like it.
It's poor. Some Ritchie stuff is absolute class (Snatch), some is just pretty good (Lock Stock, Sherlock Holmes), and some is poor (Arthur, Revolver). so far this is looking like it falls into the latter category.

Finished it last night. Great series but not a classic. Nicely tied up and a lovely Vinnie Jones scene that made me tear up a fair bit.

I very rarely get into series but I really enjoyed this one to the point of leaving the local early to find out what happens next. Hopefully they'll make another series.

Thanks - that gives me perspective now. I can see where you're coming from and some helpful points there.

I still think poor is a bit harsh but I've fallen into The Gentlemen after watching some very poor recent Netflix offerings which might be why I'm enjoying this series so much.

Agreed Netflix have done some dire stuff of late which is probably why I was so surprised by the Gentleman.

Netflix is pretty much just a TV stodge producer for consumers now. Lots of very average stuff. I watched episode 2 and it's marginally better: Vinnie Jones's measured performance is a high, the stereotype Scousers and the awful bible quoting priest/gangster straight out of Pulp Fiction (has Ritchie no shame?) a low. i'll stick with it a bit longer.

Thing is though the streamers are more and more where it's at and increasingly so. If you look at the numbers for normal TV, what the in crowd call linear TV, it's dying on its arse. Even if you add in the numbers on catch up they're way down compared to years back. Advertising revenue is following that trend.

Yes, I agree. Unfortunately this seems to mean the general quality is getting lower. Some Netflix foreign content, for instance from Germany, is quite good though.

Thought it was OK. Had every single Guy Ritchie cliche but nowhere near as good as Snatch, Lock Stock etc...

I finished it last night. It was OK and worth my time. I can understand now why some say it's not Ritchie's best but don't let that stop you from watching it.

I can't help but feel the last episode had a deeper message behind it.

The over blown verbosity of every sentence does my head in. Particularly of Lady Glass.

Following comments here, I wanted to watch Snatch again as it had been such a long time since I'd seen it that I wanted to watch it again.

It's never fair to compare a film with a series, especially one where the stories are different, although it's Guy Ritchie so the differences aren't so great and there's over 20 years separating them.

The common thing is Guy Ritchie though.

In my opinion, this series is a better production than Snatch. I know some won't agree.

I've yet to revisit Lock Stock and 2 smoking barrels but I've really enjoyed that in the past.
