Anyone for battlebots tonight?

I watched my first one last night, the thing that resembled and old reel to reel film projector was never going to last long was it?!
Whatever hit it caused a flash of flame inside and then snapped it's own weapon in half and threw it away, great stuff!
The quality seemed quite variable, some of the would have got absolutely mullered even by our Robot Wars robots.

Makes it entertaining if matched against a destructive robot I guess hehe

Megabots ... fighting machines with blokes inside to drive them.

There's already a name for that. Tanks.

Just got caught up tonight, missed the start so I could skip the rubbish. The driver in the black t-shirt had serious psycho face going on there!

Having just watched Fury Road, is that tracked tank thing, the same as the Peacemaker 'car'. ie. a modded Ripsaw tank?

Megabots looks poor. I predict huge style over substance, scripted and choreographed noncense.

Similar build schedule to Robot Wars for the first series I think - i.e. bugger all time. There's a marked step up in quality for series 2.

Pretty good little collection of battle bots fights. The last two are incredible!

The energy in that battle was amazing,

God knows how much force is required to snap the blade like that!

Battlebots is so far ahead of Robot Wars in terms of destruction and power, awesome.

Can't wait til tombstone loses. Bloke comes across like a total throbber.

Greeted the mint boys were out. Wanted to see tombstone completely destroy their robot, they also come across as non human.

I don't know what to make of him. Theres a YT channel which seems to have been done by one of the competitors. I forget which, but it was the one who fitted a rake to the top to take out drones. They sit and they go through the weeks fights in a bit of a talk show style. They get other builders to call in to discuss etc.

They seemed to have decent things to day about the maker of Tombstone. Perhaps its just one of those things were people can become a bit unbearable in the heat of competition, but once they've calmed down they return to being decent people again.

Second to that, its american TV. I wouldn't be surprised if there is instruction somewhere to get some smack talk in and give it the whoopin' and hollerin' behaviour when you win. Some of the team videos are super-cringe.

Ray posts all the time on Reddit and comes across fine and none of the other competitors have a bad word to say about him. He has mentioned a few times that the producers asked him to play the 'heel' hence the over the top confidence and general acting like a knob.

Fair enough.

By the same token does that imply that the MIT boys are being told to act like oddballs?

I get the impression they've been told to pretend they're off the Big Bang Theory

Great fight, amazed witch doctor front plate wasnt distroyed from the attack! Supprised he went full on front and not to attack the weak wheels from side or back!

He generally has faith in the weight of his spinner to damage the upright ones more. Full attack from the moment it's up to speed.

He was very nearly right, as well!
If it hadn't flipped, then tombstone was toast. It'd be unable to spin with 1/2 the blade missing, so at that point it's just a sitting duck.

The MIT bod with the cat ears, wtf is that all about?

That de-icer tool that sorted Icewave was genius.
