The MIT bod with the cat ears, wtf is that all about?

That de-icer tool that sorted Icewave was genius.
Yep, and the bloke behind it seems really spot on, like it's all a big joke (he's not flawless, WTF is the glove thing about?). Love the way that the robot is basically broken but still in it - it's like the Robot Wars version of the Le Mans wreck limping round for 2 last laps to get classified =)

Is he the bod who in the first round had a rematch because his opponent used an entanglement device which was supposedly banned, except banning such devices wasn't in the rules? Or am I just confused?

Pretty good little collection of battle bots fights. The last two are incredible!
Battlebots is so far ahead of Robot Wars in terms of destruction and power, awesome.
I reckon the best of the UK robots could hold their own here, although the Americans know how this make this entertaining without any of the boring battles from the UK version!

New series confirmed.

Time scales are even more stupid though. Applications close in 10 days and they film on the 2nd of December.

fk's sake. Been working on getting my firm to get involved, with a level of success, however no way could I get agreement and any kind of submission in that timeframe.

No chance of doing it without a guaranteed series...

That's absolutely ridiculous. The only roboteers with any chance are those that have been speculatively developing their robots since the last series without any assurance that there will be another series.

Those that have, quite reasonably, been waiting for this announcement have no chance.

Fail.

I'd also guess they won't broadcast well into 2017 as well huh?

At risk at sounding a bit too 'Britains got no talent' they could have had an open audition at around late Dec/Jan, to allow development time and broadcasting the highlights as well, then going ahead with filming the series itself in spring. Would give university teams a chance to enter and develop their robots too.

What a shame - i hoped that the BBC would be sorting this out for the next series, rather than making it worse!

The new series was absolutely pants compared to BattleBots, and i can only see this making it worse, not better.

Daft isn't it. Me and a few mates were considering it but there's bugger all chance of us designing and building something worth taking along in that timeframe. Particularly as I'm on a project in South Africa for most of November.

There'll be no completely new robots I think - all existing ones from last series or ones from the live events.

I wanted to enter but apart from fag packet sketches haven't done anything significant to get started, plus I need to get my man shed built first.

It's a shame as it already feels like series 2 is going to be a let down if that's the time frame they expect people to work too. I don't mean the robots will be terrible, but they won't be anywhere near as good as they could be, plus drivers won't have time to practise and test. Even a little practise driving makes a huge difference.

I'd love to enter. I'd make something that looks quite hard, but in reality falls apart instantly. I'd have it separated into 4 internal quadrants - 1 full of maggots, 1 full of flies, 1 full of spiders, and one full of wasps.

After the inevitable defeat, just grin, say congratulations and watch with hilarity as they struggle to recover their robot.

There isn't a programme on television that's so bad it can't be made worse by the insertion of the word 'celebrity' into the title.

One would think by now wheel protection would be included with any design.
