So last year we got 6 and then 6, no 12 series this year.

I was more posting the link to demonstrate the fact that there hasnt yet been a 12 episode series. Series 6 was 11 episodes but that's the closest it's been to 12.

I watched it on iPlayer -like most people with any sense.

I condensed it massively and still thought it was guff.

Hammond thought it was a normal transit, see his face when he pulled away! LOL classic, those Top Gear guys are brilliant!

Loved the Mexican stuff too. So funny!
Course he did poppet, the noise coming from it, the wheels and boost gauge(?) on dash absolutely wouldn't have given the game away would they? hehe

Funny episode nonetheless and nice to see some more tomfoolery in rallycars.
Whooosh!

(also, being a Top Gear presenter might have have helped)
I WILL be your poppet though, if you want....

very unlikely he thought it was a real transit. all those extra guages would be a give away , even if he did not recognise it as a 220 , and he would have noticed the extra gubbins in the back. still good entertainment for the non saddos who did not spot the wheels. yes i did spot them.

Objection your honour. There was no hint of sarcasm in your post...

Staged or otherwise (from the in-car, there's already a set of tracks across the grass where "James" took the short cut), I enjoyed that, and whoever "James" was certainly wasn't hanging about. Hammond's face is a picture on the iPlayer screen. Was sad enough to clock the wheels on that transit, which raised a smile.

Evening all, I have on fairly certain terms that the Stig that drove the rally stage is a bloke called Tom and he's 19 years old, a friend of a friend apparently. Sorry that's terribly vague but I believe he's a Proton works driver. Can anyone elaborate on this?

I elaborated the fk out of it a few pages back:

Could have been Tom Cave, he was driving McRae's old Satria Neo in the IRC.

Not to mention the Don Law number plates - or isn't he actually a petrol head? Unless he's been living in a box (he's the right size!) for years.

and doesn't read the scripts!

I suggest you read it again, Sir. True, it may be subtle to many these days, but that just makes it all the more pithy IMHO...

That's the chap, sorry I missed out a few pages and didn't check before I posted. Bloody talented for a 19-year-old if it is indeed him

Given that we only have six episodes, recycling bits of an old episode of TG Australia is diddling us. They should have done a full 6 UK episodes and shown the TG Ashes as a special.

Agreed. First episode that I've just skipped whole sections.

The original Top Gear Ashes episode is waaaaay better, shame they had to edit it down so much.

How strange, I thought this version was MUCH better and much less annoying.

I only skipped sections as I'd already seen the full Top Gear Ashes episode - if you haven't seen it, look it up on youtube/torrents, the safari park section was excellent.

I'm grateful to have access to and to have seen both. Top Gear is nice.

They could have just re-dubbed the German Vs UK thing as the Ashes, it was too much alike for me. It would have been better if at the end of the Stig race he took his helmet off to reveal that it was James under the helmet all the time, a little of the unexpected would be refreshing. Still a jolly show over all.
