Bond takes down a helicopter with a pistol from 1/4 mile away while bouncing around on a speedboat. Oh fk off. And thats an Mi6 speedboat that for some reason was left in the basement of the building even though they had all moved out of the building pending demolition (lucky that!)

with .380 dont forget.

Awful, started ok, had some promise, but then just turned to cramp.

3/10
It's certainly starting to look like Neill Blomkamp only had one film in him, and that film was District 9.
Yes. I watched Chappie last week.

I 'appreciated' some parts of it, but then the reality kicked in:

Chappie the robot is physically the bd child of Robocop and 'Johnny Five' from Short Circuit.

As soon as I'd noted that I realised that the film itself was actually the bd child of the themes of those two films too...

What about the magic on demand aeroplane at the top of the mountain with no runway?

As previously mentioned the film is rubbish. Watch the latest Mission Impossible. Its far better.

John Wick - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2911666

This should have been called Keanu Reeves Action Movie

Basically action happens, there are various scenes of action that happen throughout which are broken up via different scenes of action.

Action continues until the credits roll.

The whole film is complete bks, that said I quite enjoyed it.

6.5/10

Reeves drives a very tasteful Mustang so it gets a bonus .5

It is bks but there was something really enjoyable about watching it, just does what it says on the tin and doesn't try to pretend otherwise.

Ant-Man (finally)
Very good - restored my faith in Marvel after the mediocre Age of Ultron. This had some of the feel of the excellent Daredevil series although it was more family-friendly.

My 10yo son picked-apart the science behind the tech as soon as he went sub-atomic which shows how little thought goes into continuity but overall we thought it was really good. The little girls is *so* like my own daughter too (different accent) which we all thought was fun.

Especially loved Michael Peña's character, and the way he needs to be reminded to focus when telling a story. I know someone just like this and it's just as hilarious trying to steer him towards the point.

This film warrants repeated watching.

995/1000
watched this last night, and would give it a 9/10.

Decent plot, not too 'out-there', etc.

be interesting to see where this goes (in the world of Marvel)
Definitely the best Marvel film I've seen in ages. Didn't really like all the crossover stuff or mentions of Marvel characters, to me I'd of prefered it in its own world. Funny and enjoyable. 7.5/10

Sometimes you have to stetch your imagination a bit to appreciate certain films and not be so inflexible...

Yup, did John Wick last weekend. Good enough to watch from start to finish and was what it said on the tin so no complaints really. Fair 6.5/10.

Also took in Terminator Genisys. Read a bit about it before hand on imdb etc and have to agree with most that it has a few holes and in the end I just gave up trying to make good of the plot and watched it because I had to pay for it. I liked a few nods to the original terminator but I think enough is enough now. 6/10

So, last and probably least of the weekends action fest, Jurassic World. Done to death now, script written by a 12 year old and not a good one. 4/10 at best.

Heads up lockout about to start on C4

Pretty decent film under rated, take out brain watch the action type thing.

Basically Guy Pearce plays snake plisken might as well have called it escape from space or something.
fking brilliant. Guy is one of my fave actors, but I was gonna give it a miss as it sounded generic and ste. But Pearce saved it, he was, as normal, fking ace. And I can forgive the hideous cgi at the start and the overplayed baddies, just for all the dialogue twixt Pearce and the blonde. biggrin

Yeah the cgi at the beginning has to be the worst ever. I was thinking they maybe made it so bad for some kind of reason.

I urge you to che the rover out. Completely different pace...slow. But guy is awesome and so is happy Jack sorry Robert Patinson

Watched 'Looper' on BBC2 the other night. Solid time travel film, would recommend it.

Agent 47 (2015) - poor attempt, not even as good as the 2007 version

The American. Nice lil modern spy thriller. Nice lil type of it's genre, not mind blowing, it lags a little in the middle, but overall a nice experience. I think modern Bond films could learn a little from it.

Zero Tolerance (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3727690/?ref_=nv_sr_1) - poor film, had some good moments but all that pointed to was a wasted opportunity

Do you mean "The American"? The George Clooney movie? If so, I love that film, but its the polar opposite of Bond!

Mad Max Fury Road - didn't really push my buttons, just seemed to be trying too hard.

Expendables 3 - entertaining mindless action as expected, quite enjoyed it.

The American is one of my favourite sleeper/under the radar films that is a lot better than the IMDB rating suggests.

Hardly any buzz about it, small cast, just a great little film where you get drawn into the character and the situation in a much more realistic and empathic way than you do for say a Bond film.

If you vaguely recognise the woman from it, she's actually the daughter and spitting image of the Italian actress who played Al Pacino's squeeze when he was also the 'american' hiding out in Italy in The Godfather.

Watched American Sniper last night. It was OK I think. Ending a bit abrupt but then it's based on a true story (I assume) and it is what it is. Agree with the IMDB rating of 7/10.

Ex machina

Using the new review format.

Start bit - intriguing and interesting
Middle bit - cracks appear, character cliches and odd decision making starts to spoil things
Ending - nice idea, but ultimately disappointing.

Could / should have been better.
