All of the above does not stop people wanting Top Gear to be better than it is.
The shame if it is that the script writers are pandering now to low intelligence that is easily satisfied.
Better in what way though? The shame if it is that the script writers are pandering now to low intelligence that is easily satisfied.
Serious question.
In terms of the specials I would suggest the following
1. We know it is scripted but you don't need to make it blatantly obvious like with the trip through the swamp, or the horses standing nearby when "they couldn't get through the locked gate".
2. Given they are travelling set more time aside to meet locals show the local sights etc
3. Let the humour flow naturally and don't reuse gags from past specials (like the cow on the roof)
4. Ideally make it a genuine challenge rather than a made up one. My favourites are the Polar and Bolivia special.

Stop frothing at the mouth, you gimp. Simply agreeing with the oft repeated mantra that if you think TG is a pile of steaming horsest presented by retards, then don't watch it.
Thanks for tuning in.
I have often heard of this character, the one who purely logs into PH just to moan about TG being bad on the TG thread. I have never seen one in his natural habitat though. Roaming free, berating those who suggest maybe not watching it. The retaliatory strike, in this instance the use of the word gimp. Beautiful. This tells us one of two things, either he has carnal knowledge of another poster's intimate life orThanks for tuning in.

It would be interesting if they could tell us about the car culture in the countries they pass through. Judging by what we sometimes see, it could be quite entertaining.
I'm sorry, this thread is concerned with people knocking lumps out of each other, not for people to contribute sensible ideas that the producers of Top Gear would do well to take on board.Well I have to say that watching both of these together last night turned a miserable NYE in and alone thanks to man flu into a joy.
Does anyone think that the presenters actually repair their cars along the way.
We may have the Falklands but it erks me that some brain dead red neck has the Lotus.
Think we should do an exchange.

If it was condensed into an hour it would have been much better. It seemed like a bit of a boring route, just mostly a long straight dirt track, so they had to do the fields and swamps to add something to it.
I like the ones where it seemed that Top Gear was becoming a bit of a travel programme, with bits of history, sights and culture in there as well. This didn't really have any of that, with no interaction with the locals either.
I did enjoy it though, and I hope they continue to make many more specials.

Lots of local interaction at the end though.mickk said:

So far this thread tells me there are some people that really shouldn't bother watching the show.
They're not going to enjoy it, and they will just pull it apart, moan and complain.
Do yourselves, and us a favour; don't watch it!
Unfortunately, you won't be able to not watch it, and will then tell us all how bad it was
Well I watch it because occasionally you get a very good show. The Patagony special was not a good show. If anyone thinks that was anything like as good as most of the other specials then they're bonkers. They're not going to enjoy it, and they will just pull it apart, moan and complain.

Okay I haven't read the last 36 pages, it always seems there's a huge number of people who watch TG even though they hate it, or don't watch it but feel the need to shout from the rooftops that they don't watch it because they hate it.
Anyway, I enjoyed it, a bit like watching Titanic we all knew how it was going to end, but that didn't put me off, yes they seems to struggle for new ideas sometimes, but at least the angry mob saved us from another round of Car Football.
I was a bit shocked about how much of an issue the Falklands still are to the Argentinians, or at least some of them - but I suppose public sector signage to remind everyone doesn't help spread the peace.
The "is this bridge straight" comment was funny, the Lotus and Porsche looked far too good to waste like that, but I enjoyed it anyway.
I'd almost given up on TG, but I look forward to the next series!

I've just been surveyed about two things.
1) What did I think about the Patagonia Special.
2) What were my views and interests in buying Top Gear branded merchandise.
One might think that they are worried that bad reactions to the special might lead to a drop in sales of DVDs and Stig soap ona rope.

And you still feel the need to come on here and tell a load of people that couldn't give a fk what you think.

I don't like soap's. I don't watch them, I don't go onto threads about them either!
What the hell is wrong with you lot,
Seems we have a rather mixed camp here
One lot in the Top Gear camp believe Top Gear can do no wrong no matter how crap it gets Dare anyone criticize the program in their eyes.
There are some of us who like Top Gear but would like to see a slight change in format and less of the same ole, same ole. But we are not allowed to express our views because the lot above will be offended and tell us to Fleck off!
Finally there are one or two who really don't like the program, fair enough, but as far as i'm concerned it's still good to hear their thoughts so possible improvements could be made and someone might take notice.
Lets keep the debate healthy people, no need to slag people off just because you don't agree.
HAPPY NEW YEAR.
